A 20-YEAR-OLD DelhiUniversity student whoworksas a tutor was caught by theDelhiPolice forallegedlygivingNS(normalsaline) injectionstohis students.Police said Sandeep is a sec-

ond-year BA student and givesfree tuitions to students fromclasses VI to IX in East Delhi’sMandawali.He allegedly gave injections

to the children because he be-lieved the injections would“boost theirmemory”.Deepak Yadav, Deputy

Commissioner of Police (East)said,“Wereceivedacallfromthefamily of one of Sandeep’s stu-dents that he gave injections tothechildren.Aninvestigatingof-ficer visited the spot and ques-tionedSandeep.He told thepo-lice that he saw a video onYouTubethatgivingNS(normalsaline) solution injections im-proves thememory of the chil-dren.OnSunday, one child tookthe injection home and in-formedhisparents.”Police said they have not

madeanyarrests in thecaseyetand the child who complainedabout the injection did nottake it.Furtherenquiryrevealedthat

around four children had takenthe injection earlier. Police saidthechildrenaresafe.“Wehave asked Sandeep to

join the investigation. An FIRhas been registered and legalaction will be taken,” said thepolice.

all developmentworks done inthejurisdictionofSouthMCDus-ingMPandMLALAD(LocalAreaDevelopment) funds, names ofcouncillorshavetobementionedonplaques.Beforestartofwork,itwouldalsobemandatorytoin-formthe councillor,” it says. Theproposal also says “10% servicetax of the cost of the projectwould be charged” if MP andMLALADfundsareused.This has prompted a fresh

war of words betweenAAP andBJP,with the formersayingsucha proposal will only create adeadlockandstalldevelopment.Leader of the house, South

Studentswhowerenotabletopasstheirclass IXandXIfinalex-amslastyearweregivenachanceat re-assessment in August as a“one-timeopportunitybeingex-tendedonlyinthecurrentyearinviewof theunprecedented con-ditionofCovid-19”.This provision had been ex-

tended to all students of thesegradeswho could not pass, re-gardless of howmany subjects

they had failed in or howmanytimes. Schools had been in-structed to set assignments andprojectsforallsuchstudents,andtheywere assessed.Manywerepromotedonthebasisof these.Inacircularissuedbytheedu-

cation department for coun-sellingandsupporttoboardyearstudents, schools have been in-structed to take up remedialclassesin“missionmode”.
