Design and Development of a Portable Crusher Grinding Machine for Marble and Granite Waste – World of Natural Stones
• In natural stone processing factories, a significant amount of granite/marble waste is generated in different sizes and shapes as a result of the cutting process.
• This waste is unusable in its present form. .
• Aim was to developed a small machine that can to convert stone waste into a usable form.
Problem Statement
INNOVATIVE APPROACH-NOVEL
MACHINE
Crusher Drawing Sieve Mechanism
Grinder Drawing Finished machine
High efficiency, New products and increase in sales
Zero waste Discharge
Help SMEs in starting new bussiness
Impact
IMPROVE THE UTILISATION,
FUNCTIONALITY AND SCOPE OF THE CNC MACHINES AT SHEEDA TREASURES
• CNC machines are used to produce parts with complicated profiles.
• Machines were underutilised.
• Aim was to improve the utilisation, functionality and scope of their CNC machines so that more of their manufacturing process is automated.
Problem Statement
Reduced machining times to only 40% of previously required time
Improved utilisation efficiency by 250% of the CNC Machines.
Designed and installed an air-jet based tool cooling system.
Innovation Approach
Improved productivity on CNC machines by 100%
Zero waste Discharge
Less tedious work
Impact
Super Oil absorbent at Boraq Al-S’aad
• Oil spillage is globally recognized as an environmental danger
• oil spill is the release of a liquid petroleum hydrocarbon into the environment
• Spills may take months or even years to clean up
Problem Statement
Basic Boom construction
Typical Containment Booms
Configuration for Boom deployment
Project Background
Innovation Approach
Super Absorbent Testing and Analysis
Expected to increase sales when commercialized
Zero-Waste Discharge, Saves waterbodies from oil contamination
Emergency Oil Spill Response, recycling waste
Impact
Wastewater Treatment Reuse at Al Marsa Fisheries Plant in Rusail
Industrial Estate
• Fisheries plants use a lot of water for cleaning and processing fish
• Produced wastewater needs better handling and treatment instead of the simple collection in septic tank that may cause environmental and economic concerns
• Treated water can be utilized for a beneficial applications instead of simple disposing to the surrounding environment
Problem Statement
To treat the processing wastewater in an innovative and economic irrigation.
To reuse treated water in aquaculture, hydroponic, and landscape applications
To demonstrate effective research and development collaboration between industrial, governmental and academic institutions
Objective
Innovation Approach
1. Company has reduced water bill.
2. Company started growing tilapia fish
Zero-Waste Discharge, Fish and Vegetable Production, Conservation of Water Resources, & Gardening and Greening
Odour Prevention, Aesthetic Nuisance Prevention
Impact
Development of Fishing Trap Degradable Device for Prevention/Reduction of
Ghost Fishing in Oman
• Lost fishing traps is of increasing concern in Oman
• Ghost fishing has a number of cost and negative impacts that may be environmental, social, or economic
• Traps may be lost for a variety of reasons
Problem Statement
To identify the problems associated with ghost fishing
To Develop and test of devices that can equipped the existed fishing traps
To test the devices in the sea under all possible environmental conditions
Objective
Innovation Approach
The cost due to ghost fishing expected to be reduced annually by 2-3 million OMR
Reduce unintended fish mortality
Reduce sea water contamination
Enhanced employment in fishing communities
Improved recreational, tourism and diving benefits with reduced levels of lost gear on beaches and at sea
