Opening hoursand Services

. Park opening hours are: from April toSeptember - 8 am to 6 pm. From October

to March - 7.30 am to 6.30 om.Pub l i c t r anspo r t ( busses ) t o and f rom

Puerto lguazu: The "El Practico" bus service runsbetween the town and the falls from 7:15 am ti l l 7:15 om.

Services included in your entrance fee:

. The train to the falls: from the services and entrance arearuns every 30 minutes, since half hour after the park openning.The last train to Garganta departs at 4 pm (April to September)or 4:30 pm (October to March).. San Martin lsland: the first ferry boat ride over to San Martinlsland leaves from the bottom of the Lower CircuitTrail at 9:30 am; the last boat to the islandleaves at 3:45 pm, returning at 5:15 pm.-from April to September. From Octoberto March, the first ferry leaves at 9 am, thelast boat to the island at 4:30 pm, returningat 5:30 pm. The visit to the island can takeup to 2 hours and the long stairs make it notadvisable for very smal l ch i ldren or the lessmobile senior cit izens.. Interpretive Centre: "Yvira Reta" ("Land of Trees"in the local Guarani language). There you wil l learn that thepark also protects a large area of special rainforest with itsenormous variety of plants and animals. This type of forest(the Paranaesnse or Brazilian Coastal Forest) is severelythreatened. Here too you wil l learn about the various cultureswhich have lived in the forest over time, about conservationefforts and problems. You'l l need at least 20 minutes here.. Macuco Nature Trail: length 3600 m out, return the sameway. This forest trail is ideal for a good walk. to watch birds orget to know the forest. lt is exclusively a hiking trail, self-guidedand with interpretive stations. The pamphlet can be obtained

at the park entrance or from the Centro Operativo at the head ofthe Upper Walk. Before you start, read the "recommendationsabout wildlife encounters". Light footwear, a hat, water and insectrepellent are advisable.. First Aid Stations: are to be found at Cataratas and Gargantarailway stops where there is a nurse with a basic kit for f irst aid.The main medical centre at the falls is in the Old Hotel wher-o adoctor, a nurse and an ambulance with an intensive care unit dealwith more serious problems.

Guides' services ensure that vou take the best advantaqe ofyour time and give you the information you may seek aboutthe area.. Boat Trips: There are two alternatives: one is on the lowerriver right up to the falls themselves in powerful inflatable

craft: the other is a oentle rubber-raft f loatino downthe upper river through the islands.

. Land Excursions: Photo Safaris in open 4x4's,through the forest, in small groups and with a

guide to ensure the best personal attention.. Ful l Moon Vis i t : Around fu l l moon eachmonth (check your calendar) you can join anexcursion to Garganta by moonlight

o lodging: in the national park there is onlythe S-star International Hotel. There is no camping area nor picnicarea at the falls.. Food: Several options are available on the various trails andreception area - restaurants, bars and fast food outlets.. Handicrafts and souvenirs: Your purchase ofGuarani handicrafts

in the falls area helps the local indigenous communities.
