Igor Sikorsky Scholarship Program (ISSP) 2013-2014 Application Package MISSION STATEMENT To encourage students to excel in their engineering curriculum, and pursue a career in the rotorcraft industry. PROGRAM GOAL The Igor Sikorsky Scholarship Program seeks to prepare participants for full time employment opportunity at Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation, by providing appropriate training, mentoring and job assignments geared towards development of a meaningful technical career. DESCRIPTION The ISSP provides tuition assistance to talented students pursuing studies in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical/Materials Engineering, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering or Computer Science at a four-year accredited college/university. Scholarship recipients will receive a $10,000 award per academic year paid directly to their academic institution. The scholarship award is renewable annually given the recipient meets the continued eligibility requirements of the program. The scholarship recipient will complete a minimum of two 10-week paid internship at Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation each year scholarship assistance is awarded. The first internship will be completed at Sikorsky Aircraft’s headquarters in Stratford, Connecticut. However, subsequent opportunities may be available at facilities in Fort Worth, TX, Coatesville, PA and West Palm Beach, FL pending requisitions. Each recipient will be assigned an engineering mentor for the duration of their summer internship. Applicant must be at least a full-time sophomore enrolled in an undergraduate engineering and/or computer science degree program (per those specified in the program description).2. Applicant must have a graduation date no earlier than Dec 2015; Seniors are encouraged to apply if their graduation date falls after May 20153. Applicant must have a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale. 4. Applicant must be authorized for permanent or temporary employment in the US.5. Applicant must be available to work a 10-week summer internship each year scholarship assistance is awarded

CONTINUED ELIGIBILITY:1. Recipient must have a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.0 or greater at the end of each semester. Failure to maintain the required CGPA for any given semester will result in probationary status. Any subsequent failure to maintain the required CGPA for any given semester will result in termination of the scholarship.2. Recipient must abide by the Sikorsky code of conduct, ethics, and all other policies/procedures during the course of their summer internship. Failure to abide by these guidelines will be grounds for termination of the scholarship.3. Recipient must submit a plan of study which details the classes he/she intends to take for the upcoming academic year, any intended co-op programs (no tuition will be provided during co-op participation), graduation date, and requirements for graduation. It is expected that the scholar will adhere to the plan of study. The scholar must put any deviation from the plan of study in writing to the scholarship committee. Any deviation entailing extending the scholarship award requires a request for an extension, which will be evaluated by the scholarship committee. Payment of tuition for the upcoming semester is contingent upon receipt of an updated plan of study and official transcript including the preceding semester. The plan of study must indicate which courses have been completed and a brief status report describing the scholars' progress through the curriculum.4. Recipient must remain in an engineering curriculum. If recipient sits out or works for any portion of the academic year (summer session not included), he or she must be enrolled and matriculating in school for at least one semester or two quarters or trimesters of the year. 5. Recipient must complete a 10-week internship each summer prior to the sponsored academic school year. A minimum of two internships is required. First internship must be completed at Sikorsky Aircrafts headquarters in Stratford, CT. Subsequent internships can be completed at facilities in Fort Worth, TX, Coatesville, PA and West Palm Beach, FL pending requisitions.6. The recipient may substitute a school sponsored cooperative work program for the required Sikorsky summer internship. However, the start date of the co-op cycle must fall between May 1st and June 30th of the given year.7. Recipient must receive a rating of Progressing or higher on the Performance Feedback Tool (PFT) used to evaluate the scholars performance to mutually agreed upon objectives for the internship.8. Recipient must participate in all ISSP related training, workshops, community service events or any other activities scheduled during the summer internship.

LETTER OF UNDERSTANDINGI hereby certify that to the best of my knowledge all the information provided in the accompanying application is true and correct, and authorize Sikorsky Aircraft to obtain information from such sources as it deems necessary in connection with this application. I understand that falsification or willful omission of any material information submitted to Sikorsky Aircraft by me for award consideration may result in the loss of eligibility for receipt of awards.

I acknowledge that I have no existing commitment, expressed or implied, to work for any employer(s) during the required ten-week summer internship periods associated with this scholarship and pledge that, if selected as an Igor Sikorsky Scholarship award recipient, I will accept no such employment.

I understand that Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation will only provide payment for my tuition and academic fees directly to my academic institution upon successful completion of the eligibility requirements. Payments will only be provided for up to six academic semesters of undergraduate study in one of the specified engineering curriculums. Payments will only be provided for courses taken during the regular school sessions. Payments will not be provided toward any additional tuition expenses incurred by the student during off-campus studies.

I understand that Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation reserves the right to discontinue the Igor Sikorsky Scholarship Program or to change the eligibility requirements and policies at any time. Any changes made will become effective the upcoming academic year.

I hereby acknowledge that I have read, understand and accept the eligibility criteria and internship requirements for the Igor Sikorsky Scholarship Program award. I agree to abide by the conditions set forth by Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation in the Igor Sikorsky Scholarship Announcement and Letter of Understanding.
