• You have been randomly assigned to a small group by Moodle for this assignment. Each person in the group must choose one podcast and figure out how to post enough info so that everyone else in your group can get to and listen to that podcast. There are some podcast websites (podOmania, npr, and Library of Congress podcasts) listed as assignments for this week - these are actually links to the websites, so you could start there since everyone will have access to those links.

• So, choose a great podcast. Post info on how to find the podcast. Then everyone in the group listens to each podcast and posts information to this discussion forum. You must post some sort of a thought or question about every podcast your group including the one you choose. Your post can be responding to something posted by someone else - like answering a question they asked. As always, please remember that your posts will be seen by Miss Light and that this is a graded assignment. You earn up to 100 points for choosing a good podcast that others can get to and you earn up to another 100 points for your contributions to the group discussion forum.

• Use Audacity to make a podcast. You may choose your own groups for this. Groups must be at least 2 people and no more than 6 people. Each person must speak for a total of at least one minute in the podcast, so more people means a longer podcast. Use Audacity to make a podcast that teaches others about the history of something interesting. NO SPORTS! Find something else. When you finish, bring the computer with the podcast up to Miss Light's desk so she can help you render it.

• Some useful definitions:• Web 1.0 - This is the "traditional" internet. People look up

information they want to know. Websites were created by professional web designers and experts. The way most people use Google is an example of Web 1.0.

• Web 2.0 - This is the "new and improved" internet. People create websites and contribute to the websites of others. Web 2.0 tools include podcasting, blogs, and wikis. Basically, anyone can put anything online right now. This concept can improve websites. For example Wikipedia is an online encyclopedia edited by many and because of that some of the Wikipedia entries are incredibly detailed and rich with information. This concept of many contributors can also be bad if people want to mess up someone else's website or post wrong info. Many new web 2.0 sites are created daily. Some catch on and get used by the masses, others don't survive for long.

• Web 3.0 - This is the future of the internet. Some people believe this will be like Web 2.0 in that anyone can put information online, but experts will certify that the info is correct. Wikipedia is already headed in this direction. Other people believe the next phase of the internet will be enhanced in other ways. 9

Final Thoughts

• Every person can learn.

• Humans have a basic desire to learn.

• School and life can kill the curiosity and desire to learn in a child.

• Sometimes my job is to help people remember that learning is fun!
