Understanding your diseaseChronic interstitial lung disease (ILD) with worsening fibrosis is a serious, progressive disease that continues to worsen over time and can cause irreversible lung damage.

Worsening fibrosis in the lungs makes it harder for you to breathe and makes it difficult for your lungs to supply your body with the oxygen it needs. Here are some basics:

Your doctor has recommended OFEV® (nintedanib) capsules for you. OFEV can slow the rate of decline in lung function in people with chronic interstitial lung disease in which lung fibrosis continues to worsen.

Interstitial Lung Disease

› Scarring and/or inflammation that develops around the tiny air sacs in the lungs, called alveoli

› Space around the air sacs is called interstitial space and scarring occurs in that space, giving the disease its name

Lung Fibrosis (also called pulmonary fibrosis)

› Scarring of the lung tissue that can worsen and spread throughout the lungs over time

› Damages the lung structure

› As it worsens, it makes it more difficult for your lungs to work properly

What is OFEV? › OFEV is a prescription medicine used to treat people with a chronic (long lasting) interstitial lung disease in which lung fibrosis continues to worsen (progress).

› It is not known if OFEV is safe and effective in children.

Understanding OFEVOFEV helps slow the decline in lung function with just 1 capsule twice daily.

OFEV is the only twice-daily prescription medication that helps slow the progression of chronic ILD with worsening fibrosis. It is known to block some of the activity that causes scarring in the lungs.

How to take OFEV

The usual dose of OFEV is one 150-mg capsule twice a day (one in the morning and one in the evening)

Take OFEV with adequate food approximately 12 hours apart and swallow it whole with liquid

If you miss a dose, skip it and take your next dose at the regular time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time

Do not chew or crush OFEV

If you take too much OFEV (more than 300 mg in one day) call your doctor or go to the nearest emergency room right away

Before you begin taking OFEV, your doctor will schedule several tests, including a liver function test and a pregnancy test, if appropriate

Important Safety InformationWhat is the most important information I should know about OFEV?OFEV can cause harm, birth defects, or death to an unborn baby. Women should not become pregnant while taking OFEV. Women who are able to become pregnant should have a pregnancy test before starting treatment and should use highly effective birth control at the start of treatment, during treatment, and for at least 3 months after your last dose. Talk with your doctor about what birth control method is right for you during this time. Birth control pills may not work as well in women having vomiting, diarrhea, or other problems reducing the drug absorption. If you have any of these problems, talk with your doctor about what highly effective birth control method is right for you. If you become pregnant or think you are pregnant while taking OFEV, tell your doctor right away.

Important Safety InformationWhat should I tell my doctor before using OFEV?Before you take OFEV, tell your doctor about all of your medical conditions, including if you have:

› liver problems.

› heart problems.

Preserve more lung function with OFEV

Results were determined by measuring the participants’ forced vital capacity (FVC) after 1 year of therapy.

FVC is the amount of air you can forcibly exhale after taking the deepest breath possible. It is used to indicate the status of your lung function and, over time, can show how much the disease is progressing.

In a 1-year medical study, participants taking OFEV® (nintedanib) capsules experienced

57% less(107 mL/yr) decline in lung function

when compared to participants not taking OFEV.

Important Safety InformationWhat should I tell my doctor before using OFEV? (cont’d)Tell your doctor if you:

› are pregnant or plan to become pregnant.

› are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed. It is not known if OFEV passes into your breast milk. You should not breastfeed while taking OFEV.

› are a smoker. You should stop smoking prior to taking OFEV and avoid smoking during treatment.

Tell your doctor about all the medicines you take, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements such as St. John’s wort.

In a 1-year study, lung function, measured by FVC, was compared from the end to the start of the study. Among patients not taking OFEV, 15% maintained lung function.

*Maintained lung function is no change in FVC or up to a 10% improvement in FVC.

Maintain more lung function with OFEV

30% maintained lung function* for 1 year

while 15% of participants not taking OFEV maintained their lung function.
