In 2016, the Friends of the Library donated $1000 to the Summer Reading

Program, sponsored Museum Passes for public use to the MiSci Museum, USS

Slater, Saratoga Children’s Museum, and the Adirondack Museum. Always a

tremendous with our annual fundraiser, Ladies Night, the Friends also

sponsored the evening with a $250 cash contribution, donated 4 baskets to be

raffled, and purchased the Great Escape

Board of Trustees The Board of Trustees (of the Stillwater

Free and Stillwater Public Libraries) have

spent the past few years planning for the

future. In 2016, the recommended prop-

osition passed and library was able to

make a huge step toward its future.

On May 16th 2017, an election will be

held at the school district public vote to elect three (3) members of the Board

of Trustees of the Stillwater Public Library to terms of three years,

commencing July 1, 2017 and expiring June 30, 2020.

In June of 2016, Carol Cary joined the library

on a permanent full-time basis as the Chil-

dren’s Programming Coordinator and Assistant

to the Librarian. The library was only able to

fully utilize Mrs. Cary’s skills and education

during the summer months. In years past, we

had not been able to offer any programs with

a defined focus on early literacy. Since July of 2016, the library has been able

to offer a wide range of early literacy focused programming with a true lean-

ing toward education and developing library users. We now offer a weekly

story time utilizing pre-school concepts inline with kindergarten readiness

goals, and a baby and me time focusing on rhymes and rhythms for early

learning and reading skills.

In total, we offered 46 sessions since July with 344 attendees.
