Student Branch Meet AISSMS Institute of IT, Pune, 17th July 2018

IEEE Pune section Student Branch Meet was held on 17th July

2018 at AISSMS Institute of Information Technology, Pune. The

meet was attended by two eminent speakers Mr. Ganesh Hingmire,

Chairman, Great Mission Consultancy Group and Shri Vinayakji

Chatre, CEO & Founder, Forbaco Systems. Prof Hingmire delivered

a very interesting and insightful talk on Intellectual Property Rights,

Patents, Trade Marks and Geographical Indications. He explained

the importance of the topic with very pertinent examples and data

points. Prof Hingmire encouraged the students to focus on innova-

tion and secure their rights on the same through awareness about

IPR. Vinayakji Chatre gave an inspiring talk to the students highlight-

ing the importance of collaboration and working in teams. Appar

Thusoo, Student Section Representative for IEEE Pune Section pre-

sented the annual roadmap for the Academic year for Student

Branches in Pune. He proposed a new model namely “College Con-

nect Model” which will provide Economies of scale, avoid repetitive

events and enhance leverage of the available budget.

A visit of IEEE student branch members and ex-

ecom members was organized to Pabal Vidnyan

Ashram on 30th

July 2018 on the occasion of 15th

anniversary of their Founder.

Pabal Vigyan Ashram is an organization which focus

on imparting STEM education, project based learn-

ing, socially useful projects, rural technologies and

entrepreneurship development. Their entire philoso-

phy is based on "Learning while Doing" and "Every

Problem is an Opportunity". They offer programs

such as "Diploma in Basic Rural Technology",

"Introduction to Basic technology" and

"Entrepreneurship Accelerator". There are many

other programs offered by them in the technology

space.

All their labs are frugal and interdisciplinary. Their

approach resonates with vision and mission of SIG

for Affordable Agriculture set up by IEEE Pune Sec-

tion. The exhibition showcased their various projects, methodologies and also provided an

opportunity to the visitors to see their labs. SIG seized this opportunity and organized a study

tour of their members to Pabal. The objective was to get ideas for setting up Affordable Agri-

culture labs in their respective institutes and to help them drive projects for benefit of the

farming community.
