As a college graduate with a Bachelor in Marketing, I felt comfortable following the common road: to start a career in a

big, important corporation.

It was very clear: the company/industry had a corporate, safe career plan for me. I just had to go with the flow: show to work, reach company goals, practice some politics and the

growth was a sure thing. It was a non risk career plan. Just the way people told me it should be.

But something wasn’t right. I wanted to take a bigger role in my professional life. Corporate was OK but I needed to make significant changes to the world. I had a lot

of ideas that were irrelevant to the corporate world. I wanted to be listened, but what was the cost in my career plan?

When I started looking for something different, las Páginas Verdes opportunity came up. I regret an offer at a couple of good martketing positions. The thing was that this

new opportunity was too different. Accepting this new career involved risks such as no safe career plan at a small organization, I was totally new in the industry, a lower

salary, not the same company benefits. This isn’t something tought at schooll, it is not the path that I was tought to take! (I thought)

Las Páginas Verdes represented a risk but also an opportunity of making the difference I was looking for. After lots of

thinking, I took the risk.

Since day one, something in me finally fit. I found people who thought the same way and once had thosecorporate issues as

well.

Four years later I’m convinced that it was the best decision I could possibly make. I discovered a new career path with tons of opportunities to grow and continue making a difference.
