Native American Youth2018-2019 Idyllwild Arts Academy Scholarships

Scholarships are provided for Native American students of high school age with current tribal affiliation,

financial need, and who would like to study in one of the seven arts majors – Visual Arts, Creative Writing,

Dance, Theatre, Music, Film & Digital Media, and InterArts/Fashion Design.

The Idyllwild Arts Academy is a residential arts high school that offers pre-professional training in the arts and

a strong academic program to a culturally diverse student body of gifted young artists from all over the world.

Graduates from Idyllwild Arts Academy have gone on to exhibit in major galleries and museums, and to perform

in renowned orchestras, professional dance troupes, Broadway touring companies, and numerous films and

television shows, and more.

Our alumni go on to some of the very best schools. In music: USC Thornton School of Music, The Juilliard

School, Oberlin Conservatory, Eastman School of Music, New England Conservatory, Curtis Institute of Music,

Peabody Conservatory. In theatre and dance: Alvin Ailey School of Dance, NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts,

Carnegie Mellon University, Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, DePaul University, Liverpool Institute

of Performing Arts. In visual arts: School of the Chicago Art Institute, Boston Museum School, Parsons School

of Design, Maryland Institute College of Art. In filmmaking: NYU, Columbia, USC, UCLA and Chapman

University. In creative writing: Bard College, Emerson College and all the University of California campuses.

In interdisciplinary arts: Hampshire College, Johnson Center, UCLA, UC Santa Barbara, Gallatin at NYU.

Native American Youth Scholarships Fact Sheet 2018 Idyllwild Arts Summer Program

The Idyllwild Arts Summer Program offers workshops in ceramics, painting, photography, creative writing,filmmaking, dance, theatre, music, and more. Workshops are offered during July and August and run from

one to four weeks long. We are located between Palm Springs and Riverside in the beautiful San Jacinto

Mountains of Southern California.

The Native American Youth Scholarship is designed for students ages 9 – 18, with current tribal affiliation and

financial need. The expenses covered include tuition, lab fee, registration fee, dorm housing, and all meals in

the campus dining hall. Students are responsible for their transportation to and from Idyllwild. Note: If you

need assistance with transportation, please contact the Summer Program Registrar.

Students should apply as soon as possible to ensure that there is space in the workshops they select. If you

would like assistance with the online application form or have questions, the Summer Program Registrar will

be happy to assist you.

by contacting us at the number or email address below. Online registration opens in November.

Native American Adult Student Scholarships2018 Idyllwild Arts Summer Program

Workshops for Adult Students

Exhibits, lectures, demonstrations, and performances complement these programs throughout the summer.

Scholarship Details

The Native American Teacher/Artist/Community Leader Scholarship is for adults 19 and older with current

tribal affiliation. This scholarship brings teachers, artists, and community leaders to Idyllwild Arts workshops

to benefit themselves as well as their schools and tribal communities. Applicants with greater financial need

receive priority, but anyone interested should apply. Scholarships cover tuition, fees, dorm housing, and dining

hall meals. Recipients are responsible for their own transportation. Note: If you need assistance with

transportation, please contact the Summer Program Registrar.
