Tour Idaho
Counties
2017
1. The goal of this ride is to travel to all 44 counties in Idaho sometime between
April 1st and Sept 30th.
2. You are encouraged to do this in small groups or on your own.
3. You will need to take pictures of something in each county (County Seat, Well
known landmark, county court house, etc.) and develop some type of photo
folder to prove that you were in fact in each county.
4. Shortly after Sept 30th we will have a no host pizza party or something to award a
prize (TBA) to the folks that actually complete the ride to all counties. It could be a
million dollars or a Tee Shirt.
5. In order to win the million dollars (or T shirt) you must have proof of each
county ( something readily recognizable by the judges).
6. Judges decision will be final.
7. Members can print the spread sheet out and use it as they see fit..

New Owners at our meeting place!
The new name of our old meeting place is “TNT Bar & Grill”. Some of us ate
there on new years. The food was very good and good portions. They have a
$5.95 Special that is eggs, hash browns and meat, which is from 7am till 9am.
Be Aware there is an 18% gratuity for our group added to the bill. I
think that is ok because their prices are very reasonable.
Tent and canvas repair
Jill has a friend that makes the canvas tents for a motorcycle tent company. She would like to
do repair work for tent trailers and any non-garment items. Her name is Nancy Cheney, her
company is Nancy’s Custom Sewing. Email is [email protected].
This Month meeting would be a good time to pay the $5 for
the newsletter dues.
Dicks Spring Ride
Leave Tuesday May 30 – Return Thursday June 1st Destination Arco, Idaho KOA. Leave from the Burger
King off Interstate 84 and highway 21 at 9:00AM . Route to and from to be determined later. Things to see
while we are there , Craters of the moon- EBR1 nuclear reactor museum , Mackey Idaho, and just a time to
get to gather. The Koa for those who do not want to tent or trailer camp has cabins, TP’s , and two RV’s that
they will rent. For those reservations you will need to contact Angela at the KOA 208-527-8513. Let her
know you are with UMCI. There are also motels in town close to the camp ground. Any other questions
contact Dick at 362-4260, leave a message, if no answer he will get back to you .

6 Good and Bad News!
Dear friends,
I have some good and bad news about our Idaho State Rally at Lewis and Clark re-
sort at Kamiah.
First the bad news, as there restaurant is closed and will be used as a clubhouse.
They will serve continental breakfast at no charge for cabin and motel residents.
As of now the plan is to serve hotdogs and hamburgers out of the clubhouse and
they will serve continental breakfast at a proposed $5 a person. The breakfast will be
the usual sweet rolls, toast, fruit, cereal and will also have the Belgian waffles. There
Is a couple of good restaurants down town.
I decided to go with Rick Brazell. He is a recommended caterer that sounds real
good. He cooks a 150 to 200 Ib. pig in a portable barbeque unit. He serves cheesy
potatoes, green salad, lemonade and maybe even baked beans. Then for dessert —
wait for it — Hot Peach and Apple Dutch oven cobbler with ice cream or whipped
cream.
Dear Friends,
Here's information on overnight ride to Jackpot Nevada.

7 2017 HOPE HOUSE RESIDENTS’ RIDE
Another successful Hope House motorcycle ride for the kids is in the books!
Julie and Dallas Cravens, representing UMCI Idaho club, led the organizing and logistics and
Woody Sturm, President of the Blue Knights of Idaho, brought a coalition of Blue Knights
(law enforcement), Red Knights (fire fighters), and Green Knights (military) riders.
It was the best of days as 30+ residents eagerly lined up for rides on two-wheelers, trikes, or a
side-car. Many of them enjoyed a second or third ride with some bragging that they had four
rides. There were 8 trikes, one side-car, and 9 two-wheelers. Needless to say, they had their
choice. Ominous rain clouds threatened from the southwest, but held off until the last rider re-
turned.
We were treated to a picnic-style lunch of hamburgers, hotdogs, and several salads, plus an ar-
ray of cookies. Donna provided a brief overview of the Hope House and offered a personal
tour of the campus. The event netted $1,335 dollars, plus $877 from a previous benefit dinner
hosted by the Blue Knights, totaling $2,212.
From a historical perspective, the Hope House Residents’ Ride had its inception in the late
1980’s (’88 or ’89) with the Highway Ramblers. Rita Kowalski, H.R. Ride Captain, was the
organizing force. Other organizing club members included Rod and Nancy Schmier, Bill and
Rita Kowalski, Norm and Loretta Huber, Gary Fowble, and Cal Tanouye. I’m sure many more
Ramblers helped out. The bikers of UMCI Idaho have been instrumental in its viability.
This brings up a concern. At our April UMCI Idaho breakfast, when asked who would be par-
ticipating at the Hope House Ride, a high number of us raised our hands; yet, fewer than half
showed up last Saturday. If this benefit-ride is to survive, it will require greater UMCI and
Blue Knights involvement. From those who have much so much more is expected. Let us
search our hearts and rededicate our support to ensure its legacy.
