QUIZ - IDENTIFYING MAKER OF PIECES FREQUENTLY MIS-IDENTIFED AS MADE BY NELSON MCCOY POTTERY By Craig Nissen At the Society Banquet in July of 2017, one of the activities was a quiz for all attendees to participate in. Each banquet table was a Team. The first 18 questions were of pieces that have been misidentified as McCoy and the attendees needed to guess who the real maker was. A few questions are of more than one piece but all the same maker. Following that there were six more pieces shown that were McCoy Fake pieces but that were in fact, products made by well-known Pottery Companies which were used as a pattern to make the Fake McCoy piece by then marking the new piece made with “McCoy”. The question is who was the original maker? The winning Team had 18 of the 24 correct with a tie for second by two Teams with 15. Try your luck! The photos will be presented first and then again in that same order with the correct answer. Remember, this quiz was taken without any help of known references (books, the Internet, etc). Have fun! #1 #2 #3 #4 #5

At the Society Banquet in July of 2017, one of the activities was a quiz for all attendees to participate in. Each banquet table was a Team. The first 18 questions were of pieces that have been misidentified as McCoy and the attendees needed to guess who the real maker was. The question is who was the original maker?

The winning Team had 18 of the 24 correct with a tie for second by two Teams with 15. Try your luck! The photos will be presented first and then again in that same order with the correct answer.
