Incident Command Post or Unified Command

Dept. Op Center (DOC)

larger emergencies require additional coordination & resources

What is it? What Do they Do?

The physical location at which the coordination of information and resources to

support incident management (on-scene operations) activities normally takes

place.

An office where employees (dispatchers) manage a group of vehicles and personnel

for emergency services, and send them where they are needed: most common a

911/police/emergency dispatch center.

Focus on department specific incident response. For example, Fire, Law

Enforcement, Public Works, etc. can all have DOCs that specifically support their

field function. DOCs further more report into the EOC, and request resources from

the EOC when they have reach capacity to support the response.

The Incident Command Post is field location where the primary emergency

functions are performed. Unified Command is used when more than 1 agency has

incident/political jurisdiction. Agencies work together through designated members

of the UC to establish a common set of objectives & 1 Incident Action Plan.
