BLACK & WHITE ARTPRE FALL 2013

She is eye-catching as she rushes across the city in high heels, full of self-confidence. Slim black jeans, printed t-shirt and topped with an edgy black fur vest, she looks cool and in control, but with character.

It is fall. The crisp air bites cold against her face as she hustles along. It is a beautiful day. The trees are red, brown and yellow. There are leaves in the air and all over as she crosses the square.

She is headed for the art café. She knows they will love her new series of black and white ink drawings with their intrinsic street art references and pure graphic patterns. She is content and self-confident. She is a success and she knows.

The cool side of ICHI’s Pre Fall combines a clear, streamlined attitude with edgy, urban art. It is dim in its grey, cream and black colours but with elements of aubergine, dusty lilac and yellow. There are leather and trendy outerwear items with a lot of heavy trimming like metal zippers and press buttons. Yes, there are few softer items too like oversize wool coats, bouclé knit and fur waist coats with trim on the hood. But there is more on the edgy side: Slim pants, coated denims and heavy washed outerwear. And of course the graphic prints, an ICHI hallmark, are also there adding decorative patterns and humorous statements.

FALL FLAVOURSPRE FALL 2013

It is fall. She is headed downtown for the farmers’ gourmet market. Her soft knit sweater and the woven basket matches her affection for nature. Her feminine elegance shows a true harmony with the world.

The sky above is open blue. It may soon be cold but the sun’s dark yellow rays still warm her back as she scrolls the abundance of fresh farm products.

There are lovely colours and earthy smells all over. She senses what is best and carefully picks potatoes, aubergines, peppers and lettuce. She continues with Fall’s lovely treasures: Berries, apples and mushrooms. Her basket is almost full now but she tops it with a bottle of red wine and a warm loaf of bread. Everything for a romantic dinner.

The warm side of ICHI’s Pre Fall collection is inspired by nature’s delicate colours: Flowers, falling leaves, wild berries and mushrooms. There is plenty of vintage rose but also cream, brown and black. It has soft knits with a touch of mohair and magic animal prints. There are see-through materials used in shirts and tops. Grandmothers’ closet has been an inspiration in the many vintage inspired styles and materials. There is some edge in the shiny lurex, however, the basis is warmth, underlined in the bouclé wool jackets and handmade knit wear with big horn buttons and the many quilting details.
