ICE WORKS Directors
Janis Coyle
Jan has 40 years of coaching experience and is aNational Coaches Certification Program Level 3Certified coach. She has coached beginner skaters tothose at the Pre-Juvenile through Junior CompetitiveLevel. Many of her students have excelled to place inmany local and provincial level competitions. Skaterscoached by Jan have been successful in passingGold Levels in all disciplines; Freeskate Skills, Danceand Interpretive.
Teri-Lynn Black-Calleri
Teri-Lynn has 49 years of skating experience as botha coach and competitor. In 1982 she and partnerMirko Savic were Canadian Junior Ice DanceChampions. As a professional skating coach Teri-Lynnhas been Leaside Skating Club’s CanSkateCoordinator for 30 years. Many of her skaters haveachieved gold medal status and excelled incompetition at the local and provincial levels. Teri-Lynn was an inaugural inductee into the LeasideSports Hall of Fame and has been nominated toSkate Canada on numerous occasions for the Coachof the Year Award. She continually holds the SkateCanada Gold Continuing Education status thanks to
her commitment to ongoing professional developmentactivities.
Programs
ON-ICE
Badge Level is designed for skaters to learn all thebasic skating skills such as balance, skating forwardsand backwards, stopping, and simple jumps andspins.
Test Level Skills is an on-ice session for test level skill
development. Skaters are divided into groups basedupon skill level to focus on the 3 individual skill areasof jumping, spinning and footwork in addition tocompulsory dances.
Competitive Level is an on-ice session intended fortest level skaters who are focussing on competitions.This level will provide opportunity for skaters topractice free skate programs. During Week 2 & 5skaters will have the opportunity to further developtheir skills in a simulated competition environment.
Adult Level sessions are for skaters age 17 and olderwho want to learn basic skating skills such as forwardand backward skating, preliminary dance patterns andsimple jumps and spins
Power Skating is an action-packed, high energyinstructional power skating program geared to hockeyand ringette skaters that focuses on balance, poweragility, speed and endurance. For skaters agedapproximately six or older who already have basicforward and backward skills and are able to stop oncommand without use of the boards.
Guest Skating - Guest skaters and their coaches arewelcome to join us on ice. Ice fees apply.
OFF-ICE
Training is a simple exercise session focusing on funenjoyable routines and games to develop the skatersflexibility, core stability, strength, and balance
Pre and Post Camp Supervision is available forskaters requiring early drop off and/or a late pick-upat/from the arena.
