Engineering & Design

Fiberglass Fabrication

Our engineering and design team is led by two Regis-tered Professional Engineers with over seventy years' cumulative experience between them in engineered fiberglass structural systems and the offshore oil and gas industry. Our engineering staff is unequaled in the design of fiberglass structural systems, and each project bears the seal of a Registered Professional Engineer.

ICE utilizes a proprietary 3-dimensional fiberglass structural design software package developed by our Senior Engineer. The pro- gram performs stress and deflection calculations, and then, using the latest"allowable stress formulas" in the structural fiberglass industry, the program is also capable of calculating the Unity Ratios of each modeled structu-ral member.

To achieve the greatest efficiency, the program will resize any significantly "under-stressed" member to a more efficient size. Conversely, it will also resize "over-stressed" members in order to achieve a Unity Ratio of less than 1.0. With this program ICE engineers can provide the most efficient structural systems possible.

ICE's highly skilled designers use industry-standard AutoCAD, Tekla, and SolidWorks, as well as Plant Design Management System (PDMS). With our state-of-the-art structural analysis package and our excellent design capabilities, ICE produces the safest and most economical fiberglass structures in the industry.

ICE’s fabrication process ensures that the material arrives at the jobsite ready for installation. Due to the critical nature of offshore work and the difficulty of resolving problems on the open water, ICE has implemented a stringent quality assurance program.

ICE provides Fiberglass Structural Systems that are ready to fit. Each structural component is laid out according to Engineering Piece-Mark Drawings. The layout markings are checked before the components are cut to fit. Quality control is an integral part of the fabrication process.

Our structures are completely assembled in our fabrication facility. Each component is piece-marked to enable onsite Installers to re-assemble the structures by following the As-Built Drawings. All attachment hardware and accessories are included in each shipment.

We always strive to improve the fabrication process by using our proven standard fiberglass structural details while retaining the flexibility and engineering capabilities to design structures to satisfy the customer’s requirements.

Our experienced fabricators produce a ready-to-assemble product that is completely customized to meet the customer’srequirements.

ICE Storm-Resistant Offshore Products

ICE’s Wave Zone Fiberglass Handrail System is designed to resist the extreme wave slam forces realized in the lower levels of offshore platforms where decks, stairs and walkways are most vulnerable.

Our design will sustain 1000 pounds per square foot (PSF) wave slam loading. We guarantee to replace any components that washout, even in Category-5 level hurricanes.

We provide both square tube and round handrails and we typically provide the 316 SS sockets, pre-coped to fit the carbon steel member to which it is to be attached.

The ICE Claw Angle System is an innovative 316 SS attachment system that has been developed by ICE for the purpose of mechani-cally fastening molded fiberglass grating to the framing members of offshore platforms that will be subjected to wave action.

ICE guarantees the performance of the Claw Angle System. This guarantee states that if a panel of our grating is lost due to wave action, we will provide free labor and free replacement materials to restore the grating system to its original integrity. ICE Fendering Products

ICE's innovative design uses high strength Polyether Polyurethane that exhibits twice the tear resistance of conventional extruded butyl rubber.

This urethane formulation also pro- vides a much lower Friction Coefficient as compared to a butyl or natural rubber rub strip.

Boat Landing Rubstrips

ICE’s systems are scaled to meet the most stringent energy require-ments. Our complete ready to install systems include kingposts, energy cells, doubler plates and accessories ready to attach to landings and fenders to offshore platforms or to a dock.

Barge Bumper Systems

The ICE Energy Cells utilize a bond-incompression manufacturing process that yields two significant improvements compared to competitive products.

1. The rubber-to-metal bond is in compression, not tension, and therefore, is stronger.

2. Absorbs twice the kinetic energy of conventional cells.

ICE Specialized Fiberglass Products

Offshore Platforms need to protect people and equipment from the often-harsh weather conditions over open water all around the world.

ICE will replace the conventional steel sheeting welded to steel framework with All Fiberglass Wind Walls and Fiberglass Beam Frameworks. Thus, the expensive corrosion treatments that are necessary to keep the steel from rusting away, are no longer needed with All Fiberglass installations. Moreover, FRP offers huge weightreductions compared to the steel systems.

ICE FRP mudmats make a very economical alternative to conventional steel plates.

High-strength FRP mudmats show a Flexural Strength of 65,000 PSI (+/-)

With our FRP mudmats, many anodes are eliminated along with their expensive installation

Possess a stiffness (E x I) that is many times that of conventio-nal steel plate and can span 2-3 times further than the steelplate systems

Fiberglass Wind Wall Panels & Sun-Shades

Fiberglass Mudmats

ICE designed another application for the Wind Wall Panels. Many Offshore and Onshore locations on Earth experience greater than 100°F (40°C) temperatures every day for months at a time. ICE Sun-Shade Panels can be strategically mounted in industrial work areas to block the sun during periods of peak intensity.

ICE Specialized Fiberglass Products

Electrically Non-Conductive (ENC) fencing can be used instead of metal fencing in many diverse locations and it is most beneficial when used in places where there are corrosion or conductivity concerns.

Molded FRP panels provide light weight electrical isolation from metal fencing and metal electrical devices, and the panels are corrosion resistant and provide excellent flame retardant features.

Mounting posts are made from structural FRP shapes. Hinges and latches for gates are galvanized steel or 316 SS.

Our fiberglass platform ID signs are lightweight, corro-sion resistant, and remain brilliant for years. These signs attach directly to the handrails— eliminating the need for the steel angle frame normally required to attach steel plate signs.

ICE now offers removable fire-proofing panels for areas where fire- proofing is needed and where the need for future inspections prohibit the use of conventional spray-on systems.

Our panel system provides certifiable fire protection, while allowing for removal, inspection, and reinstallation. Shutin valves, wellheads, and major structural joints are excellent examples of where our removable fireproofingpanels are to be used.

Strakes can be installed via S-lay, J-Lay and Reel-Lay, as well as our patented ROV-friendly design.

ICE’s Strakes are backed by full scale tank testing with Reynolds Numbers (Re) ranging from the low 1,000s to ~2,000,000.

Molded polyethylene allows good manufacturing tolerances with repeatability, low drag coefficients, and high efficiency in VIV suppression.
