Accredited Testers are responsible for invigilating (supervising) ICDL certificate testing sessions. ICDL CERTIFICATION TESTING GUIDE This is a step-by-step guide for ICDL Accredited Testers. Accredited Testers are responsible for invigilating (supervising) ICDL certificate testing sessions. We recommend Accredited Testers read this guide through to the end before supervising test sessions, and have on-hand during test sessions. There are important notes/tips at the end of certain steps. If you require clarification or further support please contact us. PRIOR TO TESTING

• You must have a current Accredited Tester ID badge and certificate. The ID badge must be worn and the certificate displayed prominently on the wall during test sessions.

• You must have an invigilator login that includes a username and password (provided

by the ICDL NZ Administrator). This login permits you to invigilate certificate tests so do keep this secure.

• Each candidate must have registered with the Accredited Test Centre (ATC) and

have a valid Candidate Registration Number (CRN).

• You must inform the candidate of the date/time of testing and instruct them to: o Arrive at the ATC 15 minutes prior to testing o Bring some photo ID o Their login details (CRN and password)

• You must check that the candidate has certificate units available (in the Balance tab) and they have provided accurate and complete profile information which includes:

o First and last name o Date of birth o Physical address o Email address o Phone number o Name of organization (ATC)

• It is recommended the candidate has completed a diagnostic test prior to certificate

testing and has achieved 80% or more. Check the Results tab to view candidate’s activity.

PREPARATION OF TESTING LAB All ATC testing labs must conform to the following specifications:

• The emergency exit (where applicable) must be clearly visible • Fire extinguishers and fire procedures must be fully operational • Electrical installations must be secure • The lighting in the lab must be adequate • The lab must be clean and well ventilated • Distances between adjacent PC’s must be not less than 75cm apart (an unused PC

between candidates is also acceptable) • As a contingency plan it is recommended that there is at least 1 free test PC in the

AN HOUR PRIOR TO TESTING The ATC must:

• Conduct an Automatic Systems Requirements test on all test PC’s, including checks for internet connectivity, close any unnecessary software applications and check for possible upgrades eg Java

• Pre-arrange the seating of each candidate. Candidates taking multiple tests should keep the same seat.

COMMENCEMENT OF TESTING SESSION Before beginning the testing session, the ATC must:

• Verify each candidates photo ID and Candidate Registration Number • Ensure that candidates leave any personal items (eg bags, books, notes, mobile

phones or other devices) outside the lab. • Put up an ICDL Testing in Progress sign (available from the ICDL Administrator) on

the door of the lab to avoid any disturbance during the testing session. • Show candidates to their seat in the lab.

Five minutes before starting the testing session, the Accredited Tester will briefly inform the candidates on:

• How to login to the Enlight test system and select their certificate test • The duration of the test they are about to take (45 minutes) • Explain the Code of Conduct and that any infringement will result in a failed test. • Candidates are strictly not allowed to communicate with each other during the tests,

unless there is a technical problem with their PC and they must communicate directly with the Accredited Tester

Once these procedures have been completed the Accredited Tester will insert their Username and Password (see Step 2) into the Automated Test System and testing may commence. DURING A TESTING SESSION During the testing session an Accredited Tester must:

• Be present in the lab at all times. • Verify that all tests have started correctly • Not allow any communication to occur between candidates • Intervene only for clarification, and/or to assist in case of a technical problem* • No candidate is allowed to leave the room unless the Accredited Tester has given

oral permission, and they must be accompanied by another member of staff • Where a candidate completes the test before the allocated time lapses, he/she may

leave the room quietly *If a technical issue cannot be resolved by the Accredited Tester, and the issue is deemed to be with the automated test system, the Accredited Tester must:

• Capture all information necessary for reporting the technical problem - see Tech Support Request Form

• Communicate the issue to 2020 Trust ICDL Administrator immediately on 0800 NZICDL (0800 694 235) and take every action to get the problem solved promptly, and

• At the end of the session, complete and email the Tech Support form and an Appeal form to [email protected]

COMPLETION OF A TESTING SESSION At the end of a testing session candidates should:

• Receive a printed copy of their result report, or be shown how to view these online • Log out of their session • Unsuccessful candidates informed they can re-sit the test after 48 hours

INFRINGMENTS In cases of communication and/or observation of each other’s work between candidates, or any other infringement, the Accredited Tester must directly inform the candidate(s) involved:

• Stop testing and • Leave the room quietly

The Accredited Tester will subsequently record the candidate details, including their CRN, to the ICDL Administrator with a written report on the incident’s facts. The ATC must also inform the candidate(s) involved:

• The test they were taking will be marked as ‘failed’ • His/her CRN will be temporarily rendered invalid until all the facts can be evaluated

and a decision is reached by the 2020 Trust Should the candidate wish to appeal he/she can file an appeal within five working days by completing the Appeal form and submitting to [email protected] The verdict will be provided in writing to the ATC manager and the candidate. All appeal decisions are final. TECHNICAL ISSUES If you do experience any technical issues refer to the Trouble Shooting section, please take a screenshot of the window the candidate is working in and complete a Technical Support Request form.
