• September 2001- Formation Of National Steering Committee by the CCK

• October 2001 – Policy & Technical Committees established

• November 2001 – Launch of consultations with ICANN in Los Angeles (followed by Accra in March 2002)

Kenic Milestones - 2002

• April 2002 – Joint Signature of MOU between Kenic Member Organizations

• June 2002 – Technical Co-operation agreed with Brazilian ccTLD in Lome, Togo. Followed by further ICANN consultations in Bucharest

• August 2002 – Kenic Open Stakeholder Forum (during East Africa Internet Forum), Nairobi

• December 2002 – Kenic’s Registration as a Company Limited by Guarantee finalized by registrar of companies

Kenic Milestones -- 2003

• January 2003 – ICANN re-delegates .Ke to Kenic

• March 2003 – Kenic registry becomes operational with the help of Charles Musisi at.ug

• August 2003 – Migration to fully Online Registration using .br software completed

• “The Board of Directors of Kenic has been mandated by the Membership of Kenic and through them by the stakeholder community @large to use surplus revenues generated by Kenic to fund projects which will promote the growth and development of ICT in rural and low income areas of Kenya”.
