IBM SPSS Statistics download & installation instructions

1. Get the software Authorization Code from

http://sts.fullerton.edu/software/SPSS by clicking on the Get SPSS Software

link.

2. Go to http://www.spss.com and click on Downloads to download the trial

SPSS Statistics software.

3. Install the software based on your operating system. 4. Authorize the trial software by entering your Authorization

1 Get the software Authorization Code Steps Images

Step One

Go to http://sts.fullerton.edu/software/SPSS and click on Get A Personal SPSS License link

Step Two

Type your Portal username and password in the Students Login section. Then click Login.

Step Three

Find SPSS Statistics and click on Add to Cart.

Step Four

Click on View Your Cart. You can also click on View Your Cart at the top left of this page.

Step Five

Review your order at the top of the page, read the user agreement, and then place a check mark indicating you have read and understand the agreement. Click Place your order.

Step Six

View your ordered software license and make sure to remember the License Serial Number given to you.

Step 8

You will receive an email confirmation for your SPSS Statistics purchase that will also contain your Authorization Code.

2 Download the Software Steps Images

Step One

Go to http://www.spss.com and click on the Downloads link.

Step Two

From the Downloads page, click on SPSS Statistics.

You are downloading the trial version that needs to be activated with the

Authorization Code received in the previous section.

Click on Proceed without an IBM ID Optional: You can create an account with IBM if you want to. If you already have an account you can log in with that information under Returning Users.

Step Four

You will be asked to select the appropriate software installation file for your computer’s operating system. Click on Continue. Click on I agree to accept the agreement and I confirm to start the installation.

Step Five

Fill out the information requested here. Use your CSUF email address for the Work e‐email address and Cal State Fullerton for Company Check/un‐check the boxes as per your preferences.

Step Six

After filling out the contact information form, scroll down and to accept the terms of the license.

Step Seven

To start the download, click on the I agree link for the appropriate software installation file for your computer’s operating system. Note: Do not choose the Integration Plug‐in links

For Windows refer to steps 9‐12 For Mac OS X refer to steps 13‐14

Step Nine – Windows Only

Click on the Save File button to save the installation files Click OK

Step Ten – Windows Only

Once the file has downloaded, you will need to extract the setup file first before you can install the software.

Locate the file you downloaded. Most likely the file will be in your Downloads folder.

Right‐click on the file and click on Extract All…

Click on Extract

Step Eleven – Windows Only

Click on Extract Make sure Show extracted files when complete is checked

Step Twelve – Windows Only

Once the files have been extracted a new window will open, scroll down and double‐click on the setup.exe file

Step Thirteen – Mac OS X Only

Once your file has been downloaded, open the file. Afterwards, look for the SPSSStatistics Drive which will appear on your desktop or on your Finder window. Open SPSSStatistics.

Step Fourteen – Mac OS X Only

Double click on the SPSS_Statistics_Installer icon.

4 Installing your software The instructions for this guide were done on a PC; however the installation screens will be the same for a Mac.

Step One

After confirming the agreement from the previous step, you will see the IBM SPSS Statistics – InstallShield Wizard window. Click Next.

Step Two

Check the Authorized user license option and click on Next.

Step Three

Accept the licensing agreement and click on Next.

Step Four

Enter your CSUF account username. Enter CSU Fullerton as your organization. Click Next.

Step Five

Click Next. Optional: If you need to use another language option in addition to English, you may select it from the list.

Step Six

If your computer doesn’t use the JAWS program, select No. Note: JAWS is a computer screen reader program that allows blind and visually impaired users to read the screen. Click on Next.

Step Seven

If you don’t need to use the Python programming language, select No. Click on Next.

Step Eight

Click on Next.

Click on Install.

Step Ten

The installation process can take a few minutes.

Click OK. Optional: You can select the Register Product option if you want to register your product to receive product updates or special offers.

5 Authorize your software Once the software has been installed, you will be prompted to authorize it.

OMG I can’t find my Authorization Code! Don’t panic! First, check your student email account. You should have received an email with the license serial number when you placed the order. I think I deleted that email! Okay. Go to https://apps.fullerton.edu/E‐Licensing and select Students. Log on with your Portal

username and password. Click View Purchased License on the left. Voila! There are all of the serial

numbers for software that you purchased through CSUF.

For Windows Installations

Locate the SPSS Statistics License Authorization Wizard. By default, the application should be in Program Files > IBM > SPSS > Statistics > 23 > law.exe. You can also use the search function to locate the wizard. Run the application.

For Mac OS X Installations

Locate the SPSS Statistics License Authorization Wizard. By default, the application should be in Applications > IBM > SPSS > Statistics > 23 > SPSS Statistics License Authorization Wizard. You can also use the search function to locate the wizard. Run the application.

Step One

On the Product Authorization window, select the License my product now option and click Next.

You must be connected to the internet before you can authorize your software,

Step Two

Enter the Authorization Code that you received in your email and click Next.

Step Three

Once your software has been authorized, you will see this window. Click on Next.

Click on Finish.

Step Five

You will need to restart your computer to complete the installation process.
