IBM SPSS Statistics download & installation instructions

1. Get the software Authorization Code from

http://sts.fullerton.edu/software/SPSS by clicking on the Get SPSS Software

link.

2. Go to http://www.spss.com and click on Downloads to download the trial

SPSS Statistics software.

3. Install the software based on your operating system. 4. Authorize the trial software by entering your

Authorization Code.

1 Get the software Authorization Code Steps Images

Step One

Go to http://sts.fullerton.edu/software/SPSS and click on Get A Personal SPSS License link

Step Two

Type your Portal username and password in the Students Login section. Then click Login.

Step Three

Find SPSS Statistics and click on Add to Cart.

Step Four

Click on View Your Cart. You can also click on View Your Cart at the top left of this page.

Step Five

Review your order at the top of the page, read the user agreement, and then place a check mark indicating you have read and understand the agreement. Click Place your order.

Step Six

View your ordered software license and make sure to remember the License Serial Number given to you.

Step 8

You will receive an email confirmation for your SPSS Statistics purchase that will also contain your Authorization Code.

2 Download the Software Steps Images

Step One

Go to http://www.spss.com and click on the Downloads link.

Step Two

From the Downloads page, click on SPSS Statistics.

You are downloading the trial version that needs to be activated with the

Authorization Code received in the previous section.

Step Three

Click on Proceed without an IBM ID Optional: You can create an account with IBM if you want to. If you already have an account you can log in with that information under Returning Users.

Step Four

Fill out the information requested here. Use your CSUF email address for the Work e‐email address and Cal State Fullerton for Company Check/un‐check the boxes as per your preferences.

Step Five

After filling out the contact information form, scroll down to accept the terms of the license.

Step Six

SPSS will try to detect your operating system. You will be asked to select the appropriate software installation file for your computer’s operating system. Click on Download for <your operating system>.

Step Seven

Save your installation file.

Step Eight – Downloading & Installing

For Windows Installations, proceed to the next section. For Mac OS X, refer to steps 9 ‐ 10

Step Nine – Mac OS X Only

Once your file has been downloaded, open the file. The SPSSStatistics drive will appear on your desktop or in your Finder window. Open SPSSStatistics.

Step Ten – Mac OS X Only

Double click on the SPSS_Statistics_Installer icon.

3 Installing your software The instructions for this guide were done on a PC; however the installation screens will be the same for a Mac.

Step One

Open the SPSS Statistics Installer. After the installation has been prepared, a new window will appear. Click Next.

Step Two

The Software License Agreement will appear. Click on I accept the terms in the license agreement in order to install SPSS onto your device.

Step Three (Optional)

By default, SPSS will install the IBM SPSS Statistics – Essentials for Python.

If you would like to opt out of this add‐on, click No and click Next. Proceed

onto Step Four. Otherwise, click Yes and click on Next. On the next two pages, click on I accept the terms in the license agreement and click Next.

Step Four

Choose your installation path and click Next.

Step Five

Click Install to begin the installation.

Step Six

The Installation process can take a few minutes.

Step Seven

Make sure the Start IBM SPSS Statistics 24 Now box is checked. Click Finish. Make sure you have an Internet

connection before proceeding to the next step.

4 Authorize your software Once the software has been installed, you will be prompted to authorize it.

OMG I can’t find my Authorization Code! Don’t panic! First, check your student email account. You should have received an email with the license serial number when you placed the order. I think I deleted that email! Okay. Go to https://apps.fullerton.edu/E‐Licensing and select Students. Log on with your Portal

username and password. Click View Purchased License on the left. Voila! There are all of the serial

numbers for software that you purchased through CSUF.

Step One

Launch SPSS. If your Firewall appears when SPSS is running, allow access for the program.

Step Two

A window will appear. Click on License Product under the Already purchased IBM SPSS Statistics? Section.

Step Three

Click Next.

Step Four

Click on Authorized User License. Click Next.

Step Five

Enter your Authorization Code that you received in your e‐mail. Click Next.

Step Six

Your Authorization Code will be processed. Once it is finished, click Next.

Step Seven

Click Finish.
