IBM and SAP announce availability of mySAP.com® on Linux for eServer zSeriesCeBIT, Hannover, Germany, March 21, 2001... With a live demonstration of large-scale Linux use, IBM and SAP AG (NYSE ADR: SAP) today announced plans to deliver the mySAP.com®™ e-business platform on Linux for the IBM eServer zSeries with shipment to first customers in the second quarter of 2001.
"Since early 1999, SAP has successfully supported Linux as a mature, reliable operating system for e-business solutions" says Karl-Heinz Hess, member of the SAP Extended Executive Board. "With IBM supporting Linux on the eServer zSeries, customers now benefit immediately from the availability of mySAP.com on this hardware platform. The early SAP commitment to Linux proves to be the right decision."
By offering mySAP.com on both Linux and z/OS on the zSeries platform, IBM and SAP will provide customers with the opportunity to select the appropriate application server environment with respect to their needs. The Linux acquisition cost advantages can be combined with the qualities of service and integration capabilities of z/OS all on the same hardware platform.
