System Preparations This information is found on the first epadm screen. Installing Java and epadmpre.exe must be done before attempting to install econfig.

The recommended version for e-padm is JRE 1.4.2. The URL where you can find the SUN JRE is http://java.sun.com/j2se/downloads/index.html.

NOTE: Running other applications which demand memory and processor cycles concurrent with IBM Configurator for e-business may have an adverse effect on system performance. For such situations, it is recommended that memory be added to the minimum required, and a faster processor used.Your workstation must meet or exceed the following hardware and software requirements:

Minimum Hardware Required:

366 MHz CPU (Intel Pentium, Intel Celeron)

128 MB RAM (256 MB RAM or more recommended for better performance)

400 MB disk space

800 x 600 SVGA screen resolution

Network interface: 10 MB for LAN connection or 28.8 kbps minimum for modem connection

Software Requirements:

One of the following supported operating systems:

Windows NT 4.0 with Service Pack 6A

Windows 2000 Professional with Service Pack 2

Windows XP Professional 1gb PLUS or memory for better performace

Software required in addition to the operating system:

Java Runtime 1.4.2

Microsoft Java Virtual Machine 3802 or higher

For web updates and CPF functions, one of the following supported web browsers:

Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.01 with Service Pack 2

Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 with Service Pack 1

Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 (Windows XP only)

Netscape Navigator/Communicator 4.7x

Netscape 6.2 (Windows XP only)

If you need prices for Canada you need pick the Canada Combo file. Once all your items are selected click Install/Update.

Once e-Config installation is done you will have to reboot your system.

During the install of eConfig a folder was created on your desk top. Inside the folder there is an icon. Drag this to your launch pad. This is what will start econfig. The users guide will be found in the folder as well.

eConfig setupWhen you first launch e-Config you will see Figure A Select the two blank options. Then click OK.Having the two blanks configured you jump right to Figure B.
