    I Wonder as I Wander

A common theme over the last few weeks in our department programming (Sunday morning services, the Spirituality Circle,

and meditation) is how much our community values the spirituality of nature.

    As one resident recently said,

“Being outside brings me to a place of utter peace.”

In that vein, we offer a poem (on the back page) about the power of nature to heal and rejuvenate, as well as some mid-August

pictures around campus. Things look a little different than they did back in May, don’t they?

  • Reuniting with Beauty

It stops there! All the greed, blindness, hate, lies.

    Out there!

I have been letting you in too much, too deep,

for too long. I don’t even know

my own soul anymore, my own peace. My head is filled with your ill-will. No—Out There,

    it stops Out There.

Morning is here. I awake to the newness

of the day. I awake to the adventure

    it holds.

Today, like every day, I have the chance to start over,

to greet the sun, to smell the flowers, to bathe in nature

    and breathe her in.

Today I smile with the universe.

    Today I accept the invitation

    that beauty brings.

    -Sherrie Lovler

This poem was first shared with us by Larry Bergstresser—thank you, Larry!

What have you let into your soul recently

    that you need to release?

How can nature or beauty help you to get to know your soul again?
