Re Bulet to Albany, 11/5/70, entitled Use ofConcealed Recording Device in Covering Public Appearancesby Black and New Left Extremists.
In the past, Charlotte has been quite successful Elin obtainin recordin s o a k a e ft extremists
throughHowever, in two recent occurrences, arrangements have en
made for the recordings or speeches by ZAYDE SHAKER or theBPP "New York 21" and JANE FONDA, actress and New Left ' Y *activist. However, efforts failed due to difficulties
in the recording equipment. In addition, with BPP activitieoccurring at winston-Salem, and High point, N. With the establishment of a "CommunityInformation Center," in High Point, North Carolina,
by the Hinston-Salem; North Carolina NCCF chapter,i you should intensify yourfinformant coverage at both
locations so that you can be informed in advance ofwhat actions are contemplated by members and officialsof this organization. It would have been highlysignificant to know in advance whether or not membersplan to engage in a shoot-out if local authoritiesattempted to serve eviction notice.
The activities of this group should be closelyfollowed and your informant development should be
intensified. I
Promptly submit LHM reflecting details ofshoot out. '
. NOTE:
L A shoot-out occurred between local authorities
and Panthers at a Panther Community Infornation Centerat High Point, North Carolina, on 2/l/71, as a resultof eviction action being served by local authorities.Bureau had no prior knowledge before Charlotte routinenonthly summary airtel dated 2/4/71, received 2/9/71!.Charlotte being advised to more timely submit such informa-tion and to intensify their coverage of this Black Panthergroup both in Winston-Salem and High Point, North Carolina.
