Penatron 3003 is used for Control Joint applications located in specifications sections for the Cast-In-Place Concrete - 03300 and Expansion Contraction Joints - 03251. Al- though Penatron is specified as a joint filler, it is often referenced in section 7.

Industrial Floor Control Joints

All control joints shall be filled with Penatron 3003 as manufactured by ASTC Polymer& Inc. Costa Mesa, California.

Physical Properties: The materials shall have the following physical properties.

Shore A Hardness 85 0 Tensile Lap Shear 500 psi O Tensile Strength 750 psi O Elongation 300% 0 Movement Capabiity 12%-15%

Cold Temperature Applications The product shall be fast set in wld tempera- tures and have the ability to be surface trimmed to W e d grade within 30 to 45 minutes after installation Within this time normal constmction t d i c may be resumed over the set or trimmed product No substitu- tions.

Installation Installation shall begin after a 28 day cure of the slab has been completed. It is recom- mended by the Manufacturer that the wncrete be allowed to m e until dehydration and shrinkage of the slabs has occurred. Cold storage applicatiom should allow for shrinkage before application when temperatme is re- duced. The application is made upon approval by the architect or engineer prior to installa- tion.

The product shall be installed per the man& turas published product preparation and appli- cation bulletins. The contractor shall have experience with a rapid set polymer and the application equipment required by the manu- f8cturer.

Saw-Cut Fill Depth Control joints shall be filled to full depth of the saw-cut (1 inch to 1% inch). Joints that penetrate through the slab (slab-on grade )shall be filled a minimum of 2 to 2% inches. * Backer rod or sand is not normally

used for Control Joints requiring Load Trans& and is not recommended.

Joints shall be cleaned of dust and dry after preparation per manufacturers application in- structions.

Penatron 3003 applied from a pump shall be fluid and easily flow into the joint area filling the joint with a slight o v d . The o v d shall be cut off after the product has set (30 to 45 minutes) producing a smooth flush finish.

Penatron 3003 shall be delivered to the project site in unopened containers supplied by the manufacturer. Containers Shall have the original manufacturers label attached.

Penatron 3003 is not intended as an expansion joint pmduct, use J246 for expansion joints.
