Jennings, Governor of Florida: Sir-The undersigned State Expert Agents appointed by you un- er the Act of 1899, Chapter 4849 of the Laws of Florida to whom Has assigned the duty of examining the Tax Sale Redemption Depart- nent of the Comptroller's. Office, beg leave to report that they have. arefullv examined all of the records and entries of the redemption, sale nd cancellation of each tax sale certificate and have made careful omputations in each of the thousands of transactions, except in the aulation of the interest and subsequent tax which would have been i-ost interminable, in said department. The Tax Collector's reports o the Coniptroller of the tax sales made in each of the several coun- is are bound into substantial booksl and all redemptions and sales mjade hrough the State Treas!rer and rep rted daily to the Comptroller are en- red each day on the original reports of the Tax Collector contained such books. Such redemptions and sales are also entered in detail other books provided for that purpose which afford another complete ' cord of all lands redeemed or purchased. At the end of each month full and complete report is made to the Board of County Commis- ioners of each countv of all lands redeemed or purchased -during the outh and, as reported in connection with the Treasurer's office, the mount due each county is promptly remitted by the StateTreasurer.The mplicated method prescribed by law for ascertaining the amount re- ired to redeem or purchaze tax certificates causes an almost endless moutnt of computation in every case, and, if practicable, there should be change in the law so as to remove the complex problemstlthat arepresent- d by the existing law. Ithasrequired constant and arduous labor and the amination and verification of many details to complete the work in his department. We find that the work in this department is thorough and correct in all of its-many details.
