Congratulations to our Year 12 students on the completion of their education at Dongara DHS. The school said farewell to the Year 12s at a moving Valedictory Assembly. The Year 12s, family, friends and staff enjoyed an informal evening at Southerly's Tavern and said their last good luck and good bye. Thank you to Mrs Downes, Student Councillors and award donors.
On behalf of the school community, I wish our wonderful Year 12s; Caitlin, Savannah, Sarah-Louise, Elisha, Myah, Jayme and Jackson every happiness and success in their futures. Well done to Aaron Henderson and Caitlin Bunter on their nomination for Central Regional TAFE VETiS awards. The Year 6 students by all accounts had an amazing time on their camp at Kalbarri. Thank you to Mrs Jeffery,
Mrs Owen, Mrs Gundill and Mark our Chaplain.
You may have recently seen in the media that the WA Government and Department of Education WA have released a Student Mobile Phone Policy. Our current policy is closely aligned and we will only need to make a few changes. This will be sent home to families with student reports. Well done to Ibu and the Showcase Students who performed magnificently last Friday. Thank you to the many parents who attended in support of the students.
Last Monday, I attended the WA Education Awards. Mrs Ganfield was one of four finalists in the Premier’s Secondary Teacher of the Year Awards. Though she did not win this award, she will always be the winner in my eyes. I know that I also speak for the school and wider community. Congratulations to our YOH Fest Team who performed so wonderfully at the finals in Mandurah recently. They could not have danced any better and gave it their all. Thank you to Mrs Downes and all involved.
Our next whole school assembly will be held on Tuesday 21st November and will be hosted by the Year 5/6 class and Mrs Jeffery.
Kind Regards
Janine Calver
