The Department of Com-puter Science, which offers degrees at all levelsthrough the Ph.D., has been specially targetedwithin the University for growth and support.Departmental computer systems include a VAX11/780 with 8 MB main memory running underVMS, a Pyramid 90x with 4 MB high speedmemory running under Unix, numerous LSI-1 l's,and several microcomputer clusters. ThePyramid is dedicated to departmental research;other systems are divided between research andteaching. In addition to departmental resources,the University maintains an IBM 3081.Candidates should have a Ph.D. in ComputerScience or a related area.
