Capcom has a “bi! surprise” waitin! at E3

Via Capcom. In a press release, Capcom stated, “Come join us at this year’s E3 Expo to experience all new versions of forthcomin! releases DuckTales: Remastered, Dun!eons & Dra!ons: Chronicles of Mystara and Lost Planet 3 as well as the debut of Phoenix Wri!ht: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies. And what’s more, we have a bi! surprise to share with you. To find out what it is you’ll have to head to booth # 2101 in the South Hall of the LA Convention Center.”

Could this mean we’ll see the triumphant return of the Blue Bomber? Knockin! on wood here, but I hope this means we’ll either !et Me!a Man Universe or Me!a Man Le!ends 3 back.

New Zelda will have unexpected elements

Via EDGE. Anouma speakin! on A Link to the Past 2:“The new !ame"will play very di#erently to the ori!inal. I think

the new additions will make players see the !ame in a di#er-ent way. And, of course, we’ll introduce even more unexpected elements in the Zelda !ame that we’re makin! for Wii U.” -Eiji Aonouma

That’s usually what we’re always told. “This Zelda will be much di#erent from the others!” But they end up bein! pretty familiar. Not that I mind. I like"consistency. I’ll be interested to see what Aonouma means by “unexpected elements.”

Aonuma says Link is like “his other child”

Via Zelda Informer. How precious. Speakin! about Link Ao-numa said:

“When I first started makin! Zelda !ames, I was more inter-ested in the enemy characters than in Link himself. But while I was makin! Twili!ht Princess, I was listenin! to the theme on an iPod while walkin! hand in hand with my child, and I suddenly burst into tears. I was thinkin! about all the awful trials Link would have to !o throu!h in the new !ame. I realised that Link really is my other child. I don’t inhabit the character so much as watch him from somewhere very close.” -Eiji Aonuma

Is there a Shaq Fu !ame in our future?Via Siliconera. The facts may surprise you. Trademarks for Shaqfi!hter were purchased in

May by Mine O’Mine, owner of Shaq.com. Would you play another Shaq Fu !ame? A rhetori-cal question: of course you would.

Capcom 30th Anniversary Character Encyclopedia comin! October 21

What game series would you like to see revived?

Lordtoon says: I would like to see Joy Mecha Fight for 3DS as a 3D Classic game.

Makotheemperor says: I dunno ‘bout you, but I would like to see some more Duck Hunt!

stickfigureyami says: all the racing games nowadays, you’d think they’d at least TRY and revive Mach Rider

Raverush says: A balloon fight made completely by Iwata in his spare time that takes the artistic inventive indie approach.

kierkatgaardsmeow says: I’d rather Nintendo revive it’s current IPs such as Star Fox and Metroid before anything else!!

A question I’m sure you’ve all answered to yourselves. I love the answers we !ot, but there are tons more answers to this ques-tion. If you want to sound o" on this and future questions, follow @WeHeartNintendo on Twitter or iheartnintendomucho.tumblr.com!

Animal CrossingRelease Date: September 15, 2002Console: Nintendo GameCube

I can’t think of a game that’s drained more

time from my life than the original Animal

Crossing. No joke, I’ve probably invested

close to months worth of gameplay time in

this thing. Trading furniture with friends,

playing the stalk market, visiting the is-

land, paying off debts, designing clothes,

netowrking with fans online, investing in

Action Replay to get all the NES games etc.

Animal Crossing is Nintendo’s life sim, but

because it’s designed by Nintendo, it’s in-

finitley better than any non-Nintendo life

sim. I can’t wear a Samus Mask in The Sims.

I also can’t make musical requests from a

guitar playing beagle, or haggle with a ta-

nooki in The Sims. Still, I wish the NES

games offered in the Gamecube version made

a comeback, even though they would eat into

the sales of Virtual Console games. I’ve

played every Animal Crossing since, but no

game will ever hit me quite as hard as the

original did back on the Gamecube. A clas-

sic, through and through.

Because it was never localized, many Nintendo fans missed out on Mother 3 and the bevy of interestin! foods it o"ered. This is a !ame you’ll be seein! me make thin!s from for quite some time. Pi! Mask Army troops love this stu", and so will you. Beats the pants o" your typical ramen.

In!redients: 2 slices thick cut bacon, sliced. 3 mushrooms, sliced, 1 shallot, minced, 1 clove !arlic, minced,

1 teaspoon fresh !in!er, minced, 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flake, pinch of kosher salt, 1 1/2 cups pork broth, 1 teaspoon worshteshire sauce, 1 teaspoon tomato paste, 1 packet of instant noodles (ramen, udon, or soba work well)

Brown your thick but bacon in a small dry pot. You can alternativley use small pieces of pork cut up, but they’ll need a little oil to help !et them !oin!. Once your bacon is crispy, remove from pan and drain of fat. You should have about two table-spoons of rendered fat in the pot. You’ll only need one, so pour out the rest for use in another recipe.

Add your sliced mushrooms, !in!er, !arlic, and shallots, alon! with a !ood pinch of kosher salt and red pepper flake. Cook onmedium heat stirrin! often or until your aromatics are !olden. Add in your tomato paste and cook for about thirty seconds before addin! your pork broth and worshteshire sauce. Brin! to a boil.

4

Once a boil is achieved, add your instant noodles of choice and cook until noodles reach consistency you like. Packa!ed udon only needs to be heated throu!h, so it shouldn’t take more than a minute if you’re !oin! that route. Serve with crumbled bacon.

By rawkhawk64 [James Adkins]With E3 just a few days away, many of Nintendo’s fans are lookin! to Nintendo, hopin! for a launch title that will make the Wii U relevant for them. With an announcement made earlier, it looks like Nintendo’s new look is !ettin! some fans hyped up. With their upcomin! E3 Nintendo Direct, Nintendo has shied away from their usual white back!round with the other colors chosen based on the theme or !ame of the broadcast. Instead, they’re !oin! with a black back!round and silver letterin!. Personally, I’m hopin! that means that Nintendo will have bi! news for releases at E3. Here’s a “Top 5” list of what I’m hopin! we’ll see from our favorite company in !amin! at E3.

Will Nintendo’s New Look Mean New Ideas?

New Smash Bros. Foota!eWe all know that Nintendo is !oin! to have some !ameplay foot-a!e for their new Super Smash Bros. !ame. However, I’m hopin! to see more than just a few new characters and sta!es. Definitely a new !ameplay mechanic, much like how Brawl brou!ht us the Smash Ball. Who knows, maybe even another Adventure Mode story involvin! some other crazed maniac tryin! to take over the world. Personally, I’d like to see a situation where the main villain wins, and the Smash heroes have to slowly !et their world(s) back from the villain.

Super Mario Galaxy 3I think another Super Mario Galaxy mi!ht be a !ood thin! for the Wii U. After all, the last two times Mario launched into outer space, the results were stellar (pardon the pun). I think I’d rather see someone rather than Bowser tryin! to take over the universe, thou!h. Perhaps brin! back BeanBean baddies Cackletta and Fawful (some of you hardcore fans will remember them from Mario and Lui!i: Superstar Sa!a). Personally, I’d rather see the return of everyone’s favorite (or not) demented jester, Dimentio. I personally can see Dimentio dis-coverin! somethin! that lets him take over the !alaxy, and it’s up to everyone’s favorite plumber to save the !alaxy yet a!ain!

Metroid Prime Wii UYes, we all know how terrible Metroid: Other M was for the Wii. However, I’m hopin! Nintendo has not abandoned everyone’s favorite bounty hunter. After all, the Metroid series remains near and dear to my heart as one of my favorite series of !ames from Nintendo. I don’t know what a new adventure for Samus Aran would be, but if Nintendo does it, I’d like to see a new suit or two, as well as a new power-up or two, all makin! appearances beside the classic power-ups like the Morph Ball, Plasma Beam, and Missiles.

Mario Kart Wii UOf course, this is on here. Mario Kart is perhaps the most, if not one of the most, successful party !ames that Nintendo has come out with. For!et those lon!, borin! sessions of travelin! around a board playin! mini-!ames and buyin! Stars (no o"ense to Mario Party fans). What I want is hours spent in hectic, adrenaline-pumpin! races a!ainst friends and AI alike. Throw in a few new items aside the usual items, and you have a formula for ni!hts full of fun and cussin! out your friends for !ettin! all the !ood items while you only !et Banana Peels and Green Shells.

Le!end of Zelda Wii UYes, this has the number one spot on my list. Le!end of Zelda has always been my favorite series from Nintendo, and I think they could do amazin! thin!s with the Wii U. My bi!!est idea is that the player would use the Wii U pad for their item-switchin! needs. Also, definitely a new adventure, as opposed to just a remake (yes, I’m lookin! at you OoT 3D.) I don’t know what new adventure Nintendo would come up with, but I’m hopin! for somethin! fresh and new. Maybe introduce some new items, and maybe cover up that !ap between Majora’s Mask and Twili!ht Princess on the timeline.

Mario Party 10While I did bash Mario Party earlier, I do think it would be nice to see another board !ame from everyone’s favorite plumber. Lots more quirky mini!ames and even quirkier hosts? Recipe for family-friendly fun, ri!ht there.

Paper Mario Wii UYes, another Mario !ame. That plumber has so many adventures, it’s entertainin!. This one is unlikely, thou!h, since Nintendo !ave our 2-D plumber an adventure on the 3Ds, but I’d still like to see it.

Pokemon X & Y InfoYes, we have a ton of info already, but I still wouldn’t mind !ettin! more information concernin! the storyline. Specifically, I’m talkin! about seein! what new Team we’re !onna have to deal with and stop from wreakin! havoc on the world of Pokemon.

Metroid Prime Hunters 2Yes, another one for the 3DS that I’d like to see become a reality if it is, then !et the word out there, Nintendo! I hi!hly enjoyed Hun!ers, and wouldn’t mind seein! a sequel.

+Review

Do you remember the first time you played Animal Crossin!? I remember sco"n! o# the idea when my friends Johnny and Ralph described the idea to me. I was never really a fan of The Sims or any simulation !ames at the time. I poo pooed every sin!le mention and made fun of the silly commercials. “Not for me!” I cried. That is, until my pals brou!ht the !ame over to my place durin! winter break of 2002. Five minutes in I was eatin! platefuls of humble pie.

I’ve had a hard time fallin! back in love with the series ever since Wild World on the DS. I can’t count how many hours I invested in the ori!inal. Two years of my !amin! life were eaten up in lar!e part by Tom Nook and the !an!. Desi!nin! prints, !ettin! NES !ames, catchin! bu!s and fish, etcetera, etcetera. Heck, City Folk left me feelin! colder than Super Mario Sunshine did, but that’s a whole other story. Could New Leaf breathe New Life into a quickly stalin! franchise?

In short, yes. I’ve been playin! for days strai!ht, and am even a little cantanker-ous that I have to take a break to write this review. Never has a !ame pulled me in so quickly and so stron!ly, ori!inal Animal Crossin! included. There’s just too much to do.

In the !ame, you play as mayor. No, you really don’t !et too much executive powers. Believe me, I tried. I’d happily trick my constituents into !ivin! me more and more power until I was a Thatcher-esque autocrat. Alas, my !rasp for power was shortlived. Your mayor powers allow you to set ordinances (set times for stores to be open) and built monuments. Therin lies the fun. As mayor you raise money to fund extensive public works not seen since the New Deal like fountains,

brid!es, and even jun!le !yms. These are just a few examples. Alon! with public works, you can also !ain attention of businesses into main street.

Main street is one of my favorite additions to the !ame. All businesses you need to visit for daily drud!eries are all in one convenient place. The stores, museums, and Able Sister’s place are steps within each other, makin! the !ame very easy to play. Older !ames were pla!ued with stores and important buildin!s bein! far o#, or divided by cli#s or rivers. No more!

The island from the first Animal Crossin! is back in full force, complete with mini-!ames to !et special items. Nothin! too fun here, but it’s a !ood place to brush up on bu! catchin! and fishin! skills.

The !ame simply has more than every other Animal Crossin!. More clothes, more furniture options (you can even desi!n your own), and awesome capabilities for the 3DS. You can download QR code patters from anyone who shares them online, instead of manually put-tin! them in. Takin! full advanta!e of Streetpass capabilities, you can trade in coins (!ained by walkin! with your 3DS) and trade them in for fortune cookies with special tickets within that you can trade in for special Nintendo items. Rock that Varia Suit with pride, son.

Annoyances from past !ames are lon! !one. Blather will evaluate multiple fossils at once. He doesn’t blather (hey, now I !et his name!) on about them now either, you can instead look up fun facts in your encyclopedia. Same !oes for bu!s and fish. Donatin! can also be done with ease, to the point where you actually want to invest the time in donatin! to the museum. City Folk was pla!ued with less than fast loadin! times, which !ot incredibly annoyin! after a while. The loadin! times in New Leaf are nearly non-existent. The d-pad allows you to switch throu!h your tools with ease. The !ame is more user friendly than a Macbook Pro (Did the check clear? Okay !ood).

Constituents clapping for a new monument and a job well done.

Mayor Jaime taking a stroll down Mainstreet

ConclusionAnimal Crossin! New Leaf is a !ame you’ll be playin! for the

lifetime of the Nintendo 3DS and beyond. Nintendo has fixed every annoyance and !iven us a polished Animal Crossin! experience that will be hard to top in the future. Even if it doesn’t have NES !ames.
