“I fell in love with Nimmo Bay on first
sight. It is a place of serene beauty,
family and friendship. What better venue
to celebrate the „Boston Legal‟ series,
and especially the friendship of Alan Shore
and Denny Crane, than beautiful B.C.”
David Kelley, David E. Kelley Productions
Welcome to Nimmo Bay The Murray Family and their team of outdoor experts
welcome you to Nimmo Bay Wilderness Resort. Humor,
music, unexpected pleasures and an unfailing attention
to detail are the ingredients that will transform a
remarkable adventure into truly unforgettable live
theatre. You, our guests, are the stars of the show, and
Mother Nature is the scriptwriter. For the next few days
your sides will hurt with laughter, your soul will sing, all
your expectations will be exceeded.
“You should not live a lifetime
without going there.”
Bob Timberlake, artist
Heli-fishing: the angling odyssey
Heli-fishing is for everyone who wants to participate in
the most remarkable sports fishing adventure of a
lifetime.
Over 30,000 square miles of prime wilderness unspools
beneath you as your pilot/guide whisks you off to little-
visited destinations where the fly-fishing and spin
casting are both world class. Whether you want to reel in
Coho, Chinook, and Pink salmon or Cutthroat trout,
Rainbow trout and Dolly Varden char, the variety and
quality of fishing here is unbeatable. May through
October, trophy fish await novice and expert angler alike.
“Yesterday I was a glacier.
Today I was a waterfall.
Tomorrow I will be an ocean.”
Gray Hawn, photographer
Heli-adventures and heli-hiking
A ride in your own private helicopter is truly the most
exciting way to experience British Columbia’s Central
Interior. Each day offers a variety of exciting, helicopter
based coastal expeditions. You can fly to the killer
whales for a private and intimate experience with these
stunning marine mammals, or raft on the dazzling white
waters of the Nimpkish and Wakeman rivers. Our heli-
hiking terrain is selected for its beauty and diversity. You
will find yourself trekking along mountain ridges,
amongst alpine meadows, and around glacial lakes.
When it’s time for lunch your helicopter will whirl you
away to the white sand beaches of the West Coast to feast
on a gourmet picnic as the blue waters of the Pacific
Ocean wash your feet and the sun warms your very soul.
Whether you choose to heli-adventure to diamond blue
glaciers of the Coast Range mountains or heli-hike
historic trails, you are guaranteed an experience that is
as close to Heaven as you can get.
“I‟m a seven-time guest and if you‟re
wondering at all if you should go to
Nimmo Bay, call me — and that will be
the end of your wondering.”
Julian Rawl, North Carolina
Wilderness and wildlife adventure
Our resort includes a unique retreat offering many
coastal experiences such as wildlife viewing, saltwater
angling, whale watching, bear watching, kayaking, rock
climbing, and hiking at the foot of Mount Stephens. And
when it’s time to relax you can kick back in a private
inter-tidal chalet, have a massage, take a yoga class, and
so much more. Spectacular sunsets are the backdrop for
delightful evenings around our floating fire pit: listen to
music and sing along to the beguiling strum of an
acoustic guitar while creating memories that will stay
with you forever.
Add the use of a helicopter to this package with our ‘Hire
by Desire’ program (which gives you the ability to
reserve a helicopter for any portion of your vacation).
“Book me in for a week for the
rest of my life.”
Hal Schroeder, Texas
A resort that is ‘Exclusively Yours’
Your entire group can stay together and experience our
incredible wilderness, all while maintaining complete
privacy. Whether you choose fishing, exploring or
adventuring, our Exclusively Yours program is available
for groups of two to eighteen. You can have the private
use of one to four helicopters and, if required, the entire
resort. Total resort exclusivity is the ultimate way to
maximize your wilderness experience.
Adventuring with your family in a wilderness setting is
cathartic. Your children will experience what they have
only read about in books when they come face to face
with the amazing wildlife of the Central Coast. Grand-
parents, grand-children and everyone in between can
find satisfaction fighting to land a giant salmon, hiking
an alpine meadow, or enjoying lunch together on top of
the world. New discoveries are made daily as we learn
what is beyond the next horizon or in the mountain
valleys below.
“Take the best vacation you‟ve ever had,
multiply it by ten, and you have
Nimmo Bay.”
Brittney Rogers
Accommodation
Our cozy private chalets are the perfect place to rest
yourself after a day of adventure. Six of our inter-tidal
chalets were built over the rise and fall of the tide so you
will awaken to the breath-taking ocean views of the
surrounding bay. Still with a view of the ocean, our other
three chalets are tucked in the forest beside our onsite
waterfall. Here you will fall asleep to the sound of
cascading mountain snow melt as it tumbles down from
five thousand feet. All of our chalets have two bedrooms,
a full bathroom, a lovely living area, queen sized beds,
fine linens, fully stocked mini-bar, local art work and are
finished in the beauty of red cedar and pine. You will take
comfort knowing that all of the in-room amenities and
services have been hand-picked and carefully placed into
each chalet to ensure you have everything that you could
possibly need during your time with us at Nimmo Bay.“After 37 years of marriage, this was
the happiest I have seen my wife!”

Cuisine at Nimmo Bay
You will soon notice that we are as much about our food
as we are about the adventures we offer. Breakfast and
dinner are served fully plated in our family-style dining
room as you cast your gaze over the peaceful waters of
Nimmo Bay. Lunch you will enjoy as a gourmet picnic
served in one of nature’s restaurants. Whether on a
remote coastal island, the peak of a snow-capped
mountain or anywhere in between, you will find these
restaurants are never crowded. Fresh local seafood and
tender BC meats are the stars of our food shows and we
always take care to cater to special dietary needs. Having
the opportunity to nourish our guests with fresh, local,
coastal, homemade fare and spoil them with the best in
BC Wine, is truly as much a treat for us as it is for your
taste buds.“Nimmo Bay has created the most
glorious memories for my family and
the leadership team of Southwestern
Energy — expectations exceeded!”
Harold Korell, Southwestern Energy
Environmental stewardship
Nimmo Bay is a unique, environmentally pristine jewel
— and we intend to keep it that way! The presence of
Nimmo Bay’s waterfall cascading from the top of 5,000
foot Mount Stephens was the primary reason that we
chose this beautiful spot and we are mindful of our
responsibility as stewards of such a remote and wild
area. Our resort has set the standard whereby the natural
environment will remain unblemished by human
visitation. In 1982 we installed a water-powered turbine
to provide power. In 1984 we started using helicopters as
our primary mode of transport and commenced our
100% catch-and-release angling policy. Now the fish go
free and no evidence of our presence is felt. We leave
nothing behind. The year 2000 saw the implementation
of a state-of-the-art wastewater management system.“I love Nimmo Bay. It‟s luxury in the
wilds and it‟s wildly luxurious… and yet its footprint in the ecology is very
small. The best of all possible worlds.”
William Shatner
Helicopters and guides
Our hiking and marine guides are chosen for their years
of experience in the surrounding area. They are masters
on the water and on land and are a wealth of knowledge
of the local topography, culture, history, flora and fauna.
They take pride in educating everyone on the wondrous
natural world that we are so lucky to call our backyard.
Our pilots are handpicked, specially mountain-trained
individuals who represent the finest pedigree of aviators.
Intimate knowledge of the local terrain, historical
knowledge, and a wide set of skills are but a fraction of
the repertoire of these multi-faceted individuals. Your
pilot also serves as your angling coach & guide, lunch
time maitre d’, musical coordinator and mentor.
Our helicopters receive a rigorous maintenance routine
that is performed daily by licensed engineers —
treatment that exceeds the highest industry standards of
care. Audio headsets and digital sound are some of the
fun features of these superb machines. In our pilot’s eyes,
your safety, comfort and enjoyment are paramount.
