Summary: Chapter 6

1. David wondered what the children’s mother had meant about his being strange, but it did not bother him much.

2. In the town, Bologna, he decided to enter a church.

3. He met a priest in the church. They had a discussion about which God David worshipped. The priest said they worshipped the same God.

4. David found the northern part of Italy very flat.

5. One lorry driver took David to a train station. He realised that it was a place where he could earn money for bread.

6. At one station he saw a newspaper with his name printed on it.

7. It was a letter in the newspaper wherein the children’s parents asked him to return and live with them.

14.He discovered a photograph in the woman’s house. The woman told him it was a woman called Edith Hjorth Fengel and she had had a son called David.
