The Wisconsin DOT is making major improvements to the Daniel Hoan Memorial Bridge and the I-794 Lake Freeway. Construction began in Fall 2013 and will continue through late 2015. Traffic will be maintained on the Daniel Hoan Memorial Bridge and I-794 Lake Freeway during peak travel times. This guide will help you navigate the ramp closures, lane restrictions and overnight closures that are planned throughout the duration of the project. Be in the Know Before you Go! The I-794 Lake Freeway and Daniel Hoan Memorial Bridge connect I-794 in downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to the Lake Freeway, across the Milwaukee River inlet and are key links in southeast Wisconsin’s

WHAT’S NEW ON THE I-794 LAKE FREEWAY/HOAN BRIDGE PROJECT IN 2015?Stage II ChangesThe second stage of the I-794 Lake Freeway/Hoan Bridge Project spans from late 2014 to late 2015. With the new I-794 Eastbound lanes, from the Milwaukee River to the Lake Interchange, and the Southbound Hoan Bridge rehabilitation complete, crews will focus on rehabilitation of the northbound Hoan Bridge and westbound I-794, from the Lake Interchange to the Milwaukee River.

What to look for:• The eastbound exit to Van Buren Street will be closed from late 2014 to late 2015 and the eastbound exit to the Lakefront remains closed. Traffic

headed to downtown/Lakefront/Third Ward, from the west on I-94, will use the Marquette Interchange exits west of the Milwaukee River. Traffic headed downtown/Lakefront/Third Ward, from the north and south on I-43, will utilize the Plankinton Avenue exit or Marquette Interchange ramps west of the river. (see maps)

• The Jackson Street entrance ramp to I-794 West will reopen.

• The Broadway entrance ramp to the southbound Hoan Bridge will reopen.

• The I-794 Westbound exit to Milwaukee Street will remain closed for reconstruction.

• The southbound Lincoln Memorial Drive entrance to the Hoan Bridge remains closed until late 2015. Traffic will utilize Michigan Street west to Broadway, south on Broadway to the I-794 East/Southbound Hoan Bridge entrance ramp. (see maps)

• The northbound Hoan Bridge exit to Michigan Street/Lincoln Memorial Drive will remain open.
