Hyundai is all about ‘New Thinking’. We are about making things better and driving innovation that can benefit our drivers. Making ‘New Possibilities’ a reality for our Customers. Our Brand plays a crucial role; it’s truly important. Consumers navigate their own world through their own knowledge and understanding of Brands. Our Brand is the vehicle that people must be able to identify with; they should identify with how we ‘talk’ and how we ‘behave’ throughout all our communications. We all instinctively know that: it’s not so much what you say, sometimes, as the manner in which you say it; it’s not so much the language you use, as the tone in which you convey it. These new brand guidelines are how we ensure that when Hyundai speaks, it is with a recognisable consistency that helps people easily and positively identify us and our key messages. In order to continue moving forward with our ambitions, we have brought new thoughts and new creativity to the visual identity of Hyundai in the UK, to continue to appeal to a modern consumer in a cleaner more modern way. Of course, different products, different messages require different approaches, and this guide has been created to allow that flexibility. Yet, it is also about keeping the Hyundai ‘personality’ central to all the required communications. The goal is to continue to develop this great Brand across the UK. By continuing to reveal the ‘New Possibilities’, a sense of potential and optimism that Hyundai can offer, we can continue to attract more people to our Brand; making it possible to continue building our brighter future.

To create communication that is distinctively Hyundai we need to produce a range of attributes that will create a brand personality and help us to increase brand recognition and recall.

Along with Look, Feel and Music, Tone of Voice is what helps give a brand its distinctive personality and sets it apart from everyone else.

This Tone of Voice needs to be reflected across all communication.

The new few pages set out how.

What is Tone of Voice? And why is it so important for a brand to have one?Tone of Voice helps you to reflect the core identities of Hyundai and its brand. It helps you when you start to write. It helps you plan what you write, where you place your emphasis and even how you use grammatical tools.

Hyundai Tone of Voice (TOV) is:Positive, progressive, inspirational, confident, dynamic, contemporary, modern, premium, smart (but not arrogant), intelligent (wit), and always focused on the benefit to our customers.

Hyundai Tone of Voice (TOV) isn’t:Fact driven, jargon obsessed, overly technical, boring, frivolous or arrogant and never focused on ourselves.

Headlines should be confident, inspirational and simple.Creating copy lines that are constructed from a minimum amount of words but communicate a provocative and inspirational message will convey a Modern Premium tone.

Secondary copy should be personal, proud and optimistic.Create copy lines that use ‘We’, ‘Us’ or ‘You’. Be confident and proud of our amazing products and features and how they can inspire amazing moments in our customers lives.

Care should be taken when using ‘You’ to ensure that the term is not used in a manner perceived to be in any way rude. URL’s or YouTube links can be incorporated into the Body copy as a sign-off.

‘H’ SizeWe define the grid based on the height of the ‘NTNP’ part of the brand signature. Please follow the Basic Grid System as shown.

H = Short side of the format / 25

For example:If the advert is 210mm x 297mm

If we divide the width (210mm) by 25 the NTNP height becomes 8.4mm and the full height of the logo 14.5mm

Brand ImagesIt is important that all brand content posted on social media should be up to date and of a clear high quality. Product images should always display the most current models and specifications and showroom images should always display the most recent products.

From time to time image rights may expire, where notified you must delete this content immediately.

To get the most recent images for download use the HDMS or call 0844 209 0180 for assistance.

Cover ImagesAll cover images should be the same across all social platforms. Professional photography or banner creation is recommended for all social media business cover images as these areas are the largest spaces and the first thing visible to a customer.

For the best impact, use only images in these areas. Displaying offers in this section is not advised but if text is used it should take up no more than 20% of the image.

All cover images with outdated products should be updated immediately. It is recommended these be refreshed every 3 months to reflect the current hero product or campaign.

Profile ImagesBrand logos should be featured in the small square profile image spaces. This should be as per guidelines, see page 11 and requires equal prominence to any other manufacturer branding. The correct Hyundai brand logo in the exact brand colours with no modification to the design should be placed here.

• Social media is ultimately about connecting to people so authenticity is key. When creating more personalised copy to post on your social channels try to keep things as simple and friendly as possible but also show off the character of your dealership.

• It is crucial to remain professional at all times and respond to every customer query within 24 hours where possible.

• Post on a regular basis at least once per day. This is the only way to generate interest for your brand. There are many digital tools available to help schedule your posts but we recommend Hootsuite.
