Shared ServicesOracle's Hyperion® Shared Services (formerly called Hyperion Hub) functionality isprogrammed into products, such as Oracle's Hyperion® Planning – System 9, Oracle'sHyperion® Financial Management – System 9, and Oracle's Hyperion® Business Modeling.

Note:

Oracle's Hyperion® Data Integration Management can be used with or without Shared Services, but Shared Services must be installed before you can configure Data Integration Managementfor Shared Services authentication.

Shared Services integrates the products to provide the following functionalities:

● User provisioning

● External authentication definition

● Metadata synchronization

● Data synchronization

● Task flow management

User provisioning functionality is described in the Hyperion System 9 Shared Services UserManagement Guide available on the Oracle E-Delivery site and Oracle Technology Network(OTN). External authentication definition is described in the Hyperion System 9 Shared ServicesInstallation Guide, available on the Oracle E-Delivery site and OTN. All other Shared Servicesfunctionality is described in the administrator’s and user’s guides for the products thatimplement Shared Services. Products that implement Shared Services functionality requireaccess to a Shared Services server running Shared Services client and server software, and to adatabase dedicated to Shared Services.

Data Integration Management ComponentsData Integration Management is integrated with Informatica PowerCenter and with adaptersfor Financial Management and Planning. It provides a way of uniting disparate data sourcesacross an enterprise. For example, it can integrate data stored in multiple warehouses and datamarts, RDBMS, and online analytical processing (OLAP) stores.

Components of Data Integration Management:

● PowerCenter applications:

❍ PowerCenter Client

❍ PowerCenter Server

❍ PowerCenter Repository Server

6 Installation Overview

Page 7: HYPERION® DATA INTEGRATION MANAGEMENTData Integration Management Components Data Integration Management is integrated with Informatica PowerCenter and with adapters for Financial

● Web Hub

Web Hub is a PowerCenter Service gateway for external clients that processes client requeststo access PowerCenter Web services. Capabilities provided by Web Hub:

❍ Access PowerCenter functionality through the Web services gateway

❍ Use workflows that read or write to or from Web services

The hub hosts these Web services:

❍ Batch Web Services, which run and monitor workflows and administer the PowerCenterServer

❍ Metadata Web Services for logging on to the repository and browsing metadata

❍ Real-time Web Services for creating service workflows that enable you to read and writemessages to a Web service client through the hub

Setup OptionsData Integration Management provides two setup options:

● Typical—Installs the PowerCenter Client, PowerCenter Server, and PowerCenterRepository Server components but does not install the Web Hub component.

● Custom—Installs the components that you select.

See “Running the Installer” on page 13.

Operating EnvironmentsYou can install Data Integration Management on Windows (XP Pro(client), 2000 / 2003 Server)and UNIX (Red Hat Linux AS 4.0, AIX (Power PC 64–bit) 5.2 ML7 and 5.3 ML3, Solaris (SPARC)9 and 10, and HP-UX 11i RISC:v1 (11.11)) platforms. The PowerCenter Client component canbe installed only on Windows platforms, including Windows XP.

About Hyperion HomeWhen multiple Hyperion products are installed on one computer, common internal and third-party components are installed to a central location, called Hyperion Home. On a Windowsplatform, the Hyperion Home location is defined in the system environment variable calledHYPERION_HOME. On a UNIX platform, the Hyperion Home value is storedin .hyperion.<hostname> in the home directory.

Note:

On a UNIX platform, to ensure that all installers have the permissions required to modify theHYPERION_HOME location, Hyperion recommends that all Hyperion applications be installedunder one HYPERION user account.

Hyperion Home LocationThe default location for Hyperion Home is C:\Hyperion on a Windows platform or $HOME/Hyperion on a UNIX platform. The Data Integration Management installer searches for theHYPERION_HOME environment variable on the computer to which you are installing.

If the Hyperion Home location was previously defined for another Hyperion product, theinstallation uses the previously defined location. The location cannot be changed through theinstaller.

If the current installation is the first Hyperion installation on the computer, you can specify thelocation during installation.

Note:

On a UNIX platform, if the HYPERION_HOME directory is mounted on an NFS so that oneHYPERION_HOME location is visible across multiple computers, Shared Services can beinstalled to only one computer. If you try to install Shared Services to an additional computer, the previous installation is detected.

Files Installed in the HYPERION_HOME DirectoryVarious files are installed in the HYPERION_HOME\common directory by a default installation ofShared Services. Some common components, and thus some files and directories, are optionaland may not be installed.

Changing the Hyperion Home LocationAfter Hyperion Home is defined through the product installation, you can run a migration utilityto change the Hyperion Home location.

On a Windows platform, the migration utility moves the files installed in Hyperion Home tothe new location and updates the value of the HYPERION_HOME environment variable.

On a UNIX platform, the migration utility updates the .hyperion.<HOSTNAME> file, whichresides in the directory that contains the environment variable. Login initialization files, suchas .profile and .login are not updated.

Hyperion Home Migration Utility is provided with the Shared Services installation.

Note:

For an Apache Tomcat 5.0.28 Windows installation, you can install the Shared Services serveras a Windows service. If you select this option, the Shared Services server is launchedautomatically by the service and runs in the background. However, if you change theHYPERION_HOME location, the Windows service does not automatically start. This problemoccurs because the registry entries for the Windows service retain the old path information. Tosolve this problem, you must manually update the location of the Windows service.

Synchronizing UsersIf Data Integration Management is registered with Shared Services and configured to use SharedServices authentication, you can synchronize users. When you use Shared Services to provisionusers, you must select the User Synchronization task for Data Integration Management inHyperion Configuration Utility so that the users are pushed to Informatica.

➤ To synchronize Data Integration Management users:

1 Ensure that Shared Services is running. See “Starting and Stopping Shared Services” on page 45.

2 Start Hyperion Configuration Utility and click Next on the Welcome page.

3 Select Hyperion System 9 Data Integration Management, and select User Synchronization.

4 Enter your Shared Services password.

5 Select Is SSL if SSL is enabled on the Shared Services server and is configured to use https.

6 Optional: Select Generate Batch File .

Note:

Generating a batch file provides a convenient way of running the user-synchronization task ona regular basis, which is recommended. See “Batch Synchronizing” on page 44.

7 Click Next.

On the synchronization status screen, the Next button becomes available when thesynchronization is complete.

Synchronizing Users 43

8 Click Next.

Batch SynchronizingSelecting the Generate Batch File option when you synchronize users with HyperionConfiguration Utility can save you time when you perform this routine task in the future. Thebatch file that is generated when you select the option (dim_synch.bat in a Windowsenvironment or dim_synch.sh in UNIX) saves the settings that you entered for synchronizingusers with Hyperion Configuration Utility, such as the Repository Server host and port. You canthen run the batch file, which is in the DIM_HOME directory, to synchronize users from anylocation at any time, instead of runningHyperion Configuration Utility and entering the settingsagain.

Tip:

You can schedule regular automatic runs of the batch file using the scheduling features of youroperating system.

Because the batch files cannot store passwords, you must edit the generated batch file to add oneof these parameters:

● -rp RepositoryAdministratorPassword

● -rP EnvironmentVariable, where EnvironmentVariable is the name of the environmentvariable that contains the repository administrator password

44 Configuring and Setting Up Data Integration Management

Page 45: HYPERION® DATA INTEGRATION MANAGEMENTData Integration Management Components Data Integration Management is integrated with Informatica PowerCenter and with adapters for Financial

A comment in the generated file indicates where to add the parameter.

Note:

If you edit the batch file and then run Hyperion Configuration Utility again with Generate BatchFile selected, your edits are overwritten.
