Cleaning and disinfection are a ubiquitous topic of daily medical routine. The basic aim is to minimize the risk of infection for humans and animals. The thorough cleaning and disinfection of your endoscope influence much its optimum function and durability. Drying is an essential process of the hygiene concept.

Duringcleaningdirtisremoved.Thisstepisfrequentlyunderrated,butisessentialforthepreparationofallothersteps.Putyourendoscopeinanenzymaticdetergentsolution(e.g.Dr.FritzenzymaticcleaningUNIVERSALforrigidendoscopesandinstrmentsorFLEXforflexibleendoskopes)andmakeamechanicalpre-treatmentwiththespecialbrush(forexample,theinstrumentchannel).

Disinfectiontakesplacechemically.Putyourendoscopeintoadisinfectantthatisspecificallysuitableforendoscopes(e.g.InstruPlus).Theexistinggerm-proofisreducedby1millioncFUto10cFU.

Therearedifferentprocedureforsterilization(e.g.gas-sterilization,autoclaving).Checkthatyourendoscopeissuitableforthisprocedure.Typicallyflexibleendoscopesareonlysuitableforgassterilizationbutnotforsteamsterilization.Rigidendoscopesaremarkedwiththeword„autoclave“isdistinguishedifsteamsterilizationispossible.Theexistinggerm-proofisfurtherreducedby10cFUto1CFU.

Foranoptimumresultinthecleaninganddisinfectionnotethefollowingpoints:

•Cleaningshouldbedonepromptlyafteruse.SpraywithDr.Fritzenzyme.Pre-cleaningFOAM.•Checktheapplication(hands,face,endoscopes,instruments)toachieveanoptimaleffectandtopreventdamage.•Checkthespectrum(bactericidal,fungicidal,virucidal)yourdisinfectanttoselecttherightproductforyourneedsandtoavoiddamage.

•Dr.Fritzenzymaticcleanerscanbecombinedwithcommercialdisinfectants(e.g.,InstruPlus).•Strictlyfollowthespecifiedexposuredosage,timeandtemperatureonthepackaging.•Detergentsanddisinfectantsmustbestoreddryandcool.Extremetemperatures(frost,heat>40°C)mustbeavoided.•Observetheinstructionsprovidedbythemanufacturerforuse(concentration,protectivemeasures).•Dryingisanessentialpartofthewholeprocess.
