1) I would like to use Criminal Minds the TV show as my figured world. I really love this series because I get all wrapped up in trying to solve the crimes. In a way it is also kind of like nicotine, I just can’t get enough of it! It toys with my emotions and I feel as though I am involved in the lives of the characters.

2) I have chosen Criminal Minds as my figured world. To us the purpose of the show Criminal Minds is obviously entertainment, but to the characters in the show it is about solving crimes and catching the bad guys while at the end of the day making sure they come back home to their work family and their families at home also. This can take place in many places, some of the most frequent are the plane (where the team has down time on their way to and from towns where crimes have happened), the office, and Penelope’s computer room. I use the last one as a frequent location because she’s almost always in her little lab pulling strings behind the scenes. One of my favorite aspects of this show is how the team treats one another, they’re not just friends they’re family. You’ll notice when watching how Morgan talks to Penelope, always calling her baby girl or something sweet. They have a flirtatious relationship which in criminal minds is acceptable. At the same time if this is said in front of someone like Rossi it can sometimes be considered inappropriate. I expect my known community of practice will be criminal investigation.

Summary:

This homework response was really great at helping be determine my interest in the figured world I was wanting to use for my assignment. It prevented me from doing possible extra work and it prevented me from boredom. Hearing about how a student had done a project of theirs on a student laundry room I can’t help but shake my head and wonder how in the world they went through with it. I believe that they should’ve known at the point of this homework response that, that would be a terrible idea.
