GENERAL GUIDELINES Due to the ongoing drought and low dam storage levels, there will be a restriction on water usage in the city of Cape Town from 1 February, 2018. Authorities have announced that all persons will be required to use less than 50 litres per person per day and that this restriction will last for at least 150 days. Residents and businesses must comply with this restriction and everyone is encouraged to take steps to minimise water usage.

THE WESTIN The Westin Cape Town has implemented solutions reducing water usage with a savings on average 1,000,000 liters of water per month compared to same time last year. The hotel appreciates your efforts in curtailing the water usage on a day to day basis.

THE HOTEL’S CONSERVATION EDUCATION & DETAILS INCLUDE:

ADVICEDo the following:• Follow the guidelines from authorities and your

accommodation provider.• Limit water usage as much as possible, especially during

peak usage times.• Reduce shower times. The average shower uses 10-15

litres/minute.• Only flush toilets when absolutely necessary.• Any stored drinking water should be kept in clean sealed

containers in a cool place and clearly labelled as drinking water.

ASSESSMENTThe water restrictions will be in place until dam storage levels improve, and it is uncertain when this may happen. Hence it is imperative to be prepared for the shortage for the duration of the trip.

WATER RATIONING IN CAPE TOWN

• Guest notices in the lobby, rooms, elevators as well as public restrooms regarding the nature of the Western Cape water crisis and drought.

• Removal of bath plugs from guest baths to prevent the use of water-heavy baths. At this point bathing is not encouraged.

• Ongoing and interactive staff training regarding the use of water and methods to ensure continued water savings.

• Purchase & implementation of water-free Ecolab hand sanitizers in public restrooms.

• Reduction of water pressure in public restrooms and the use of air raters in our taps.

Our Harbour Deck Outdoor pool remains open as we are using 100% non-potable water.Reduce shower times. The average shower uses 10-15 litres/minute.

THE WESTIN CAPE TOWN

CAPE TOWN INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION CENTRE

The Cape Town International Convention Centre can be accessed by walking directly across the street from The Westin’s front door OR via the skybridge from The Westin’s Mezzanine-level. When walking into the CTICC at the ground level, delegates will need to turn right and go up the escalator to reach the HVTN meeting rooms. When entering the CTICC via the skybridge you will already be on the same level as the HVTN meeting space. Please follow the directional signage to the meeting room you require. For reference, please see the area map on page 5 showing an overhead view of the two connected conference locations.
