Flaking A process of shaping stone by chipping pieces off the edges. Flint A type of stone that can be shaped into blades, knives and spears for hunting. Nomad Members of a community without fixed habitation which regularly moves to and from the same areas.

The Neolithic village of Skara Brae was discovered in the winter of 1850. Wild storms ripped the grass from a high dune and exposed the ruins of ancient stone buildings.
