Dear Hunter’s Green residents,
Spring has sprung! Now is the time to get outside in the sunshine and enjoy all that our area has to offer!Whether it’s going to a local Saturday fresh market to shop for veggies and crafts, or a family picnic in the park, or even that first trip to the beach for a long walk along the shore, take advantage of the first warm days of spring!
There are many interesting events for families this time of year. One event is the Summer Splash on April 6th at the Glazer Children’s Museum, a fun-filled day for families to learn about summer camps around the Tampa Bay area. There will be games, activities, prizes and live entertainment.
There’s also the 5th Annual Ride for Hospice, sponsored by the Pasco County Sheriff ’s Mounted Posse, it’s a family friendly event that brings together horse lovers for two days to raise funds for Gulfside Regional Hospice. There will be camping, live music, trail rides, wagon
rides, a petting zoo, a nature walk and more. Saturday and Sunday, April 13th and 14th. Go to http://rideforhospice.net for more information. USF celebrates going green and sustainability this month with their Earth Day festivities on April 20th, 10 am - 4 pm. The theme this year is Fresh Food Revolution. It’s a wonderful opportunity to teach our young people about the importance of supporting local farmers and vendors. There will be a farmer’s market, drum circle, educational demonstrations and children’s activities.
Whatever you find to do this month, be thankful that we live in a beautiful area of the country and that we can get outside and enjoy it! We welcome photos you take of your family events this month. Please send them in and you might be featured on an upcoming cover!
Happy springtime!

The Women’s Club of Hunter’s Green
The Women’s Club has planned an outing to Sarasota on April 18th . We plan to explore the interior of the Mertz
Theater and learn the fascinating history of how an authentic 1903 Opera House build in Dunfermline, Scotland was given a new life in Sarasota to become the home Osolo Repertory Theater. We will go backstage and see the stage manager’s
command center, stored sets and props, the wig shop, rehearsal and actor’s dressing rooms and, of course, the
Green Room. The tour includes the 161- seat contemporary Cook Theater where the FSU/Osolo Conservatory students
perfect their craft. We will visit the West Wing where the Sarasota Ballet houses it’s rehearsal studios, education
department and costume shop.If you are interested in joining us for this cultural outing,
please call Connie Clark 813-929-4147 or Eileen Ouellette 813-907-9819.

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) recommends children have their first dental exam between 12-18 months of age with regular check-ups routinely every 6 months. Examination of teeth, oral tissues, the jaw and the head and neck will be completed during a dental visit as well as cleaning and polishing teeth. X-rays are taken in accordance with the guidelines of the AAPD and are used to view teeth which have not yet erupted, establish an overall baseline of health, follow
growth and development, to diagnose tooth decay, check for abnormalities, or for orthodontic treatment. Brushing teeth should begin as soon as a tooth erupts and brushing
should continue everyday for a person’s entire life. Brushing for 2 minutes twice a day will help ensure that all tooth surfaces are cleaned. While brushing removes debris and bacteria from the tooth surfaces, flossing removes plaque and food particles from between teeth where a toothbrush can not reach. Plaque is responsible for tooth decay, gum disease and bad breath. Recent studies have suggested that your toothbrush may be a powerful and inexpensive weapon against heart disease. It has been suggested that oral health and gum disease are related to heart disease. Begin to floss your teeth as soon as two teeth touch each other. Without flossing, 40% of your teeth would never get clean. Gums may bleed with flossing. Don’t stop flossing if this happens. Gum bleeding is a sign that your gums are irritated and more consistent daily brushing and flossing will help heal them. Evidence of dental care is found in excavations dating 3000BC. American companies began to mass-
produce toothbrushes after 1885. Modern toothpastes were developed in the 1800’s. Colgate dental cream was packaged in collapsible tubes in the late 1800’s. While prehistoric man used dental floss, a New Orleans dentist, Dr Levi Parmly, is considered the inventor of modern dental floss. He encouraged his patients to floss their teeth with silk thread around 1815. Starting around 1882, dental floss began to be available to the general public.Your mouth is a window to your body’s overall health. Dr Charles Mayo of the Mayo Clinic emphasized the connection between bodily health and oral health when he said, “Preventive dentistry can extend human life ten years”.Brushing and flossing play a vital role in keeping your mouth healthy. Toothbrushes and dental floss are found in a variety of stores around the world. Choose a product that you like and continue to use them daily. Want to learn proper brushing and flossing techniques? ADA.org (The American Dental Association) or AAPD.org (The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry) have information showing proper technique.Feel free to call our office with any questions or concerns, 631-1100.

Warm weather is right around the corner, and if you have children, chances are you’re considering swimming lessons to teach them how to swim and be safe in the water. Well look no further! Whether you live in Tampa or Wesley Chapel, Swimkids USA Family Swim School is the swim school of choice for parents. Why? “Because at Swimkids USA you get results!” says Alan Messing. As Founder, Owner, of Swimkids USA, Alan stays involved in every aspect of the program and his staff.
For over 28 years, thousands
of children have graduated from the school. Best of all, they are not only having fun, but are safe and skilled in the water. “Safety is our number one priority here at Swimkids USA,” says Alan. And rightfully so when you consider this:
Fact: In the state of Florida, the leading cause of death for children under the age of 5 is drowning.
And with that fact, it’s no wonder why parents choose Swimkids USA. One only has to view the movie clips on the Swimkids USA
website to see the end results. You can see their one year old students swim!
"What makes our program different is the personal attention we give to every child and every parent," says Alan. "Our philosophy is that we work for the customer and not vice versa," continues Alan. Even with over 2000 customers, Alan still takes every phone call and answers every email when talking to parents about thier child's progress in the program.
Whether it is infant classes or stroke technique
classes for your aspiring competitive swimmer, there is a Swimkids USA class designed just for you. But don’t delay! Swimkids USA’s classes fill up fast, typically by May.
For more information, simply go to the nationally awarded and recognized SwimKids USA website at www.SwimKidsUSA.com where you can register online, view class schedules, customer testimonials and more! You can also call Alan directly at 813-991-6258. Be sure to tell them the Hunter's Green News sent you.

Dr. Stanley Castor, a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon, has been chosen as one of the first physicians in the United States to offer New GPS Laser Lipocontrol™ Treatment - an innovative body shaping technology from Europe.Dr. Castor's practice, Artisan Aesthetics, is one of the pioneers in the field of aesthetic medicine. "Even with dieting and exercise, many people are seeking ways to quickly and effectively remove stubborn areas of unwanted fat," explains Dr. Castor. "Lipocontrol, the latest innovative technology to hit our shores, quickly and safely removes problem areas of fat deposits, with total control and safety." FDA-approved Lipocontrol uses thermal energy in the form of a heat generating laser to liquefy unwanted fat and then remove the liquid fat in one easy procedure. A built-in GPS tracking system allows Dr. Castor to determine in real time exactly how much energy is being delivered to a given area of the body and to deliver a uniform amount of energy. "This additional control guarantees a high level of safety as well as more even and smoother results," says Dr. Castor. The entire procedure can be done in-office in one session on a number of different areas of the body including the abdomen, waist (love handles), hips and thighs, buttocks, back of arms, knees, ankles and even under the chin to remove unsightly "turkey necks." "I am truly amazed at the performance and results we are seeing from Lipocontrol," says Dr. Castor. "Hands down, this

COMMUNITY NEwS
Springtime is fast approaching, which means very different things, to many it is a time for new life, freshness, renewal, for those in cat rescue, it means kitten season is
upon us. Cat Crusaders, an all-volunteer, no-kill cat rescue of Tampa is based out of the New Tampa Petsmart located on Bruce B. Downs. Their vision was to re-home as many adoptable cats and kittens as possible.
Re-homing adoptable cats is one piece to the puzzle, spaying and neutering cats and kittens are another piece. By spaying and neutering the population
of cats and kittens are decreased, thus ensuring that the numbers of cats and kittens being euthanized decrease in our society. So Cat Crusaders is also active in TNR. (Trap, Neuter, Vaccinate, Return). This method enables the feral community to be controlled humanely, since they cannot reproduce. Cat Crusaders of Tampa is also the leader among cat rescues regarding pulling cats from Animal Services to place for adoption. The Tampa Bay area is flooded with cats and kittens every year looking for places that are safe that will enable them to survive. The feral population is huge, partly due to the tropical seasons and lack of hard winters in Tampa. Cat Crusaders continues to do amazing work in the community and this is seen every time the group receives an email or phone call stating their adopted cat is doing great in their new home and brings happiness to the pet parents. More often than not, the cat or kitten was pulled from a kill shelter with only days or moments left to live. The cat or kitten was given
a second chance and it happened because of the Cat Crusaders volunteers. Cat Crusaders is always looking for volunteers, whether it's adults to help do adoptions, or families to foster cats or kittens, or teens looking for community service hours, there is always plenty of work to be done. Cat Crusaders goal for the future is to have a mobile adoption unit. This would allow the group to reach out to more places in the community and conduct adoptions from outside of Petsmart. Those who do not have the means to get out and see cats and kittens in stores and shelters would now have the opportunity to meet and adopt from the mobile adoption unit. With a mobile unit, more cats and kittens would find their forever homes. Cat Crusaders conducts adoptions every Saturday and Sunday at New Tampa Petsmart. Cats are $50 and kittens are $75 or two for $100 to adopt. All cats and kittens are tested for feline leukemia and feline immunodeficiency virus, are up-to-date on their shots, spayed or neutered, and have a microchip. You can visit the website at www.tampacatcrusaders.org. HG
