The program is open to individuals with an ASD or other disability between the ages of 7 and 18 who live in Newcastle and the Hunter Region. Aspect are working collaboratively with other community partners to deliver this program with the support of ADHC Peer Support funding. The program provides the opportunity for individuals to access a community organisation of their own choice, with experienced Aspect staff members able to support this access. This is achieved through consultation with the individual and their family/carer, as well as consultation with the chosen community organisation. Specialised training is provided to the community organisation to focus on building their capacity to support the needs of the individual, followed by a number of supported visits with an Aspect staff member who assists in supporting the individual’s access to the community organisation. We can assist in the following ways: o Support individuals and their families / carers to explore, plan and develop strategies for active community involvement in a service or activity of their own choosing. Some examples could include wanting to join a dance class, music tuition, a sport or recreation club, etc. o Support individuals and their families / carers to access community services and activities that are provided with specific training in an individualised capacity by experienced Aspect staff to best support the ongoing success of the individual For more information contact the Hunter coordinators of Aspect 'Individual Community Access Packages': Name: Email: Phone: Mobile: Craig Smith [email protected] (02) 49225900 0408 272 425 Name: Email: Phone: Emily Hinshelwood [email protected] (02) 4922 5900
