3e commitment to the vow

�e nature of mind is the great space of dharmadhātu.

&ས་Mམས་Mམ་དག་�་ནས་4ད་གསལ་(ང༌། །chö nam namdak yené ösal shying

All dharmas are completely pure primordial luminosity.

Mལ་འKར་3ད་དSངས་`་བསམ་ལས་འདས་པས། །naljor nyi ying ma sam lé depé

�e realm of this yoga transcends thought and speech.

མཉམ་3ད་Yང་]བ་^མས་ལ་bག་�་འ+ད། །nyamnyi changchub sem la taktu dü

I continually bow to bodhicitta, which is equanimity.

Requesting the wrathful and peaceful deities to listen

Within Ati Samantabhadra, which has prevailed primordially,

U་ནང་གསང་བ2་བTད་པ2་ད�ལ་འར་!། །chi nang sangwé köpé kyilkhor ni

Are arranged outer, inner and secret mandalas.

cང་dད་Mམ་དག་F་དང་F་མe་དSངས། །nangsi namdak lha dang lhamö ying

Pure apparent phenomena is the sphere of devas and devis.

fང་དང་འfང་འ�ར་ཡབ་gམ་hན་Aགས་Mམས། །jung dang jung gyur yabyum lhün dzok nam

What has occurred and what will occur are the self-perfection of these lord and lady deities.

�e lady herself manifests as the great secret ultimate joy.

Within her pulsing lotus, the vast and in)nite realm of space,

Whatever appears are the indestructible devas of mahāsukha.

In this secret mandala of inseparable union

Are the great lord himself, lord and lady deities of the )ve families,

Male and female bodhisattvas, hosts of male and female wrathful deities,

Great glorious ones of the )ve families, the ten wrathful kings with their consorts,

གནས་དང་gལ་�་�ག་�་x་མ་བ(། །né dang yul gyi chakgya goma shyi

�e four gatekeeper devis of the sacred places—

�་�ས་Hལ་པ2་F་Vགས་མང་P་Mམས། །yeshe trulpé lhatsok mangpo nam

�e many wisdom emanation devis,

མ་yར་Yམས་9ང་dང་yར་ག+ང་ལ་<གས། །ma tar jam shing sing tar dung lasok

�ose who are loving like mothers and a.ectionate like sisters,

Who weigh good and evil and pronounce the samaya judgements,

3e vows of the bodhicitta of aspiration

Hūṃ! Descendants of the Compassionate One, we vidyādharas,

Arouse bodhicitta for the bene)t of beings.

3e vows of the actual bodhicitta

In order to progress to the unsurpassable state

བzན་པ་�་མV་<་སe་འ+ལ་Åམས་དང༌། །tenpa gyatso sosö dul trim dang

We practised the various disciplines of the ocean of teachings;

�e supreme vows, uniting body, speech and mind,

�e indestructible samaya, not lightly transgressed and necessary to maintain.

Ü་དང་�ད་པར་Fག་པ2་དམ་|ག་Mམས། །chi dang khyepar lhakpé damtsik nam

�ose general and extraordinary samayas

á་Uར་མàས་9ང་ག_ར་+་`ས་<་འཚལ། །ngachir nö shing nyer du mé so tsal

We accept and swear to preserve now and in the future.

gན་+་-་གâང་འདའ་བར་-་བ�ད་\ང་། །yündu mitong dawar migyi ching

We will never abandon or transgress them.

�ན་ལས་8ལ་(ང་äག་^མས་མ་མãས་åང༌། །dön lé gol shying dok sem machi kyang

Although we have no intention of straying or turning away on purpose,

3e cause of transgression

�rough laziness, thinking that there is ample time to do things later,

kང་+་མ་�ར་éལ་èགས་]ང་བ་དང༌། །long du magyur tsalshuk chungwa dang

We are unable to accomplish these and our exertion is weak.

�ས་བ(ན་-་êན་བག་�ད་དབང་�ར་ë། །sheshyin miden bakmé wanggyur té

Lacking awareness, carelessness controls us.

3e details of transgressions

xམ་ལ་-་བíན་བìན་îབ་ག�ལ་ལ་<གས། །gom la mitsön nyendrub yel lasok

Not exerting ourselves in meditation, being inattentive during sadhana practice, and so on,

Vར་དང་མ་Vར་མ་Bག་དབང་~ས་ན། །tsor dang matsor marik wang gi na

By the power of ignorance, knowingly or not,

ïན་པ2་བཀའ་དང་དམ་ལས་འགལ་�ར་ë། །tönpé ka dang dam lé gal gyur té

We have transgressed commands and vows from our teacher.

“A yogin should not associate

ñད་\ག་ཙམ་ཡང་འòད་པར་-་Y་ôས། །kechik tsam yang trepar mija shyé

With a samaya corruptor, even for an instant.”

བཀའ་ལས་fང་(ང་>་yར་མ་öགས་ë། །ka lé jung shying detar matok té

Such is the command, but we are unable to observe this.

གསང་x་འ&ལ་བས་དõ་བསལ་དཀའ་བ་དང༌། །sang go cholwé yesal kawa dang

�e secret gate is easily missed and so it is di>cult to understand things clearly.

མJན་�ས་�ད་པས་úན་ཅན་མ་öགས་ë། །ngönshé mepé kyönchen matok té

Without the higher perceptions one cannot realize who is at fault.

ཉམས་དང་Vགས་འùས་ཉམས་པ་བñང་བ་དང༌། །nyam dang tsok dré nyampa kangwa dang

Associating with hosts of transgressors, we have compounded our transgression.

Explaining the Dharma to transgressors and improper vessels,

ཉམས་ལ་-་འüམ་ཉམས་པ2་úན་ལ་<གས། །nyam la midzem nyampé kyön lasok

Not abstaining from transgressions and faults,

ཉམས་དང་འ}གས་9ང་ཉམས་པ་>་དག་~ །nyam dang drok shing nyampa dedak gi

Keeping company with transgressors—by all these transgressions,

3e e4ects of transgression

ཉམས་†བ་úན་�ས་8ས་པར་�ར་â་འཚལ། །nyamdrib kyön gyi göpar gyur to tsal

Stained by these faults, which are attacks of transgressions: whatever we have committed

Are hindrances in this life and obstructions for the future.

With a mind of utter remorse and regret we confess.

Puri5cation through absolute means

Yམས་པ2་0གས་1ས་བདག་ལ་ད8ངས་ནས་åང༌། །jampé tukjé dak la gong né kyang

With loving kindness, please consider us.

ག3ས་�ད་དSངས་ལས་-་འ�ར་བདག་བTད་>། །nyimé ying lé mingyur dak kö dé

Establish us )rmly in the realm of non-duality.

Since you abide in the state of non-conceptual equanimity

Please grant us non-dual ultimate forgiveness.

Since absolute truth transcends conception and elaboration,

�ere is no conceptualizing thought whatsoever.

Nན་Aབ་ß་མ་ཙམ་�་དབང་~ས་ན། །kündzob gyuma tsam gyi wang gi na

If due to relative truth, mere illusion,

àངས་པ་མãས་ན་རབ་གàང་བ®ད་པར་ག<ལ། །nongpa chi na rab nong zöpar sol

Any faults were committed, please forgive us.

And those churned in the waves of birth, aging, sickness, and death, The migrators, be liberated from the cyclic sea of suffering! (An extract from Buddha’s Succession of Lives)

༄༅། །ཡ་ག་གམ་་ན་ལམ་་་་མད་ས་་བ་བགས། །The Secret Vajra Knot: An Aspiration Prayer of the Three Yogas

་མ་་དམ་་ཚགས་དངས་་གསལ། །lama yidam lhatsok gong su solLamas and hosts of yidam deities, turn your attention towards us!

ང་འར་བན་པས་བབས་པ་ད་བ་དང་། །deng dir tsönpé drubpé gewa dangThese positive actions we have accomplished through our efforts today,

ས་གམ་བསགས་དང་ཡད་པ་ད་བ་མས། །dü sum sak dang yöpé gewa namAll the merit we accumulate throughout the three times and all the virtue that exists,

བམས་་་ད་ང་བ་ན་པར་བ། །dom té lamé changchub chenpor ngoAll gathered together, we now dedicate towards great and unsurpassed awakening!

ང་ནས་ང་བ་ང་པར་མས་་བར། །deng né changchub nyingpor chi kyi barFrom now until we reach the heart of enlightenment,

གས་བཟང་་གསལ་ང་ལ་ད་པ་དང༌། །rik zang losal ngagyal mepa dangMay we be born in a good family, be intelligent and free from pride,

ང་་་ང་་མ་ལ་ས་ན། །nyingjé ché shying lama la gü denMay we have great compassion, and devotion to the teacher,

དཔལ་ན་་་ག་ལ་ས་གནས་ཤག །palden dorjé tek la ngé né shokAnd confidently follow the glorious Vajra Vehicle!

དབང་ས་ན་ང་དམ་ག་མ་པར་ན། །wang gi min ching damtsik dompar denMatured through empowerment and keeping the commitments of samaya,

མ་གས་ལམ་ལ་བན་བ་མཐར་ན་། །rim nyi lam la nyendrub tarchin téOn the path of the two stages1 may we complete ‘approach’ and ‘accomplishment’,

དཀའ་བ་ད་པར་ག་འན་་འཕང་བད། །kawa mepar rigdzin gopang dröMay we attain the vidyādhara levels2 without difficulty,

དས་བ་མ་གས་བ་ག་འབ་ར་ག །ngödrub nam nyi delak drub gyur chikAnd easily achieve the two types of accomplishment!

ར་ང་་འལ་་བ་འར་ལར་གས། །chir nang gyutrul drawé khorlor dzokMay all appearances be realized as perfect, the mandala of the Net of Magical Illusion,

གས་པ་ཐམས་ཅད་བད་ལ་གས་་། །drakpa tamché jödral ngak kyi draAll sounds as the inexpressible sound of mantra,

མས་་འ་བ་རང་ག་འས་མ་ས། །sem kyi gyuwa rangrig dümajéAll movement of mind as uncompounded self-knowing awareness,

བ་ན་འ་འལ་ད་པར་མན་ར་ཤག །dechen dudral mepar ngöngyur shokAnd may we realize the great bliss that is beyond union and separation!

ཉམས་ཆག་ག་བ་མ་ངས་གནས་་དག །nyamchak tok drib mapang né su dakWithout rejecting impairments and breakages, thoughts and obscurations, may they bepurified in their own state.

་ནང་གསང་བ་དར་ད་གས་པས་བང༌། །chi nang sangwa yermé tokpé kangThrough realizing outer, inner and secret to be inseparable, may the samaya commitmentsbe fulfilled.

གང་ཤར་རང་ལ་ན་བཟང་ང་ཡངས་། །gangshar rangdrol kunzang long yang suMay whatever arises in the mind be liberated by itself in the vast expanse ofKuntuzangpo,

ངན་སང་དང་གས་ད་་མཉམ་ར་ག །ngensong dongtruk sishyi nyam gyur chikMay the lower realms be emptied from their depths, and may we realize the equality ofsaṃsāra and nirvāṇa!

ག་་ན་པར་་དང་ང་ཁམས་གས། །tiklé chenpor ku dang shyingkham dzokWithin the Great Sphere the kāyas and buddha fields are perfectly complete,

དམ་ག་ན་པར་ང་ང་མཚན་མ་དག །damtsik chenpor panglang tsenma dakWithin the Great Samaya the concepts of abandoning and adopting are purified,

བ་བལ་ན་པར་་དགས་མད་པ་ལ། །khyabdal chenpor redok düpa drolWithin the Great All-Pervasiveness the knot of hope and fear is loosed,

གས་པ་ན་པར་ས་་མན་ར་ཤག །dzogpachenpor chöku ngöngyur shokWithin the Great Perfection may we actualize the dharmakāya!

བད་པ་གམ་་ན་བས་ང་ལ་གས། །gyüpa sum gyi jinlab nying la shyukMay the blessings of the three lineages3 enter our hearts,

་འལ་་བ་ལམ་གསང་མས་ལ་གས། །gyutrul drawé lam sang sem la dzokAnd the secret path of the Net of Magical Illusion be perfected in our minds.

ན་ལས་མ་བ་ན་ས་བ་པ་ས། །trinlé nam shyi lhün gyi drubpa yiThrough the spontaneous accomplishment of the four activities,

་མཐའ་ད་པ་འ་བ་ལ་བར་ཤག །muta mepé drowa drolwar shokMay we liberate the infinity of beings!

་་ལ་པ་འར་ལས་ང་ན་ང་། །shyitro trulpé khorlö lung tön shyingMay the mandalas of peaceful and wrathful emanations guide us with predictions,

མཁའ་འ་མས་ས་་བན་ང་བ་དང༌། །khandro nam kyi bu shyin kyongwa dangThe ḍākinīs protect us as their own child,

ས་ང་ང་མས་བར་ཆད་ན་བསལ་ནས། །chökyong sungmé barché kün sal néAnd the Dharma protectors and guardians dispel all obstacles;

ད་ལ་ན་པ་མཐའ་དག་འབ་ར་ག །yi la mönpa tadak drub gyur chikMay all our aspirations be fulfilled!

ལ་བ་བན་པ་དར་ང་ས་པ་དང༌། །gyalwé tenpa dar shying gyepa dangMay the teachings of the buddhas flourish and spread far and wide,

བན་འན་མས་་བད་པ་དན་ན་འབ། །tendzin nam kyi shyepé dön kün drubMay the aspirations of all the holders of the teachings be fulfilled,

མ་ས་་་འགལ་ན་ན་་ང༌། །malü kyegü galkyen kün shyi shyingMay each and every being be freed from all adversity,

ན་ཚགས་མཐའ་དག་ད་བན་འར་ར་ག །püntsok tadak yishyin jor gyur chikAnd may they receive all that is excellent just as they desire!
