OUR VISION

Humula Public School aims to provide a safe and varied learning environment that creates independent, confident and resilient individuals working towards academic success.

LITTLE KINDER Last week Pippa was lucky enough to celebrate her 5th birthday here at school. We hope she

had a great birthday.

Pippa and Layla enjoyed reading ‘The Farm Concert’. As a follow on activity from their reading they made green frogs with long dangling legs.

“Croak, croak” went the frogs.

JUNIOR JACK ATTACK BOWLS

How much fun are we having with Dave as we improve our skill set in bowls. He was very impressed with the amount of skill development we displayed over the period of one week. This week we are hoping to change the activities so

that we might be able to fine tune the way we bowl. We are hoping that at the end of our lessons we might be

able to organise a game of bowls on a lawn green.

Khancoban Camp

On the 12th September 2019, we left Humula at 7:30am to participate at the ALPSS Khancoban Camp. We travelled on the bus and we went through Rosewood, Tumbarumba, Tooma and Khancoban just to get to camp.

On the first day, Miss B spoke to us about the rules and what is going to happen at camp. After that, we watched the ‘Waste Warriors’ Then, Year 5/6 went over to learn about snakes and we got to hold a python. It was fun but Amy from Khancoban was scared somehow. We went down into the playground to see Ranger Nick and we made damper. Did you know that Ranger Nick and his mates hold the Guinness World Record for the longest damper which is 153cm. Then we did some lessons of LAC, LAC stands for Little Anxious Creatures. After that, we had lunch and played together which was fun. After, we had our fun we did health with Alex, we read the health labels of food, then we set up our beds. The 3/4/5 and 6’s were in the gym that was an effort. Then we had our yummy pasta for dinner. After our dinner we had our AMAZING disco. That was fun even ask our kids. To finish of the day, we had no movie, we had a biscuit and then BED!!! We woke up and packed up and ate breakfast. I had toast and pancakes. Then we practised our dances and played some games. Then we did first aid with Mrs French. We had AFL and Alex was the best. Then it was Lego robots, Kayden and I messed up big time. Ours didn’t even move. Happily, we played cricket with Mr Bremner, Kayden and I were good at that. We had lunch, packed up and went home.

My favourite part was holding the python and the fun dancing at our disco.

Khancoban

At 7:30am on Thursday, 12th September, our lovely Humula School packed up our bags and headed out to the Khancoban camp. It was a long but smooth drive, by our humble principal.

Finally, we could have some fun. Our first activity was with a true Aussie- Ranger Nick, who was a part of the world record for the world’s longest damper which was 153m long. This was a recent record and his team won the record back from Sweden. After that, we had a tremendous lunch made by the staff and Khancoban parents. To top it all off of course, we had a disco. It was awesome! After that, we had a relaxing long sleep.”Zzzzzz.”

On the second day, we were sad to go home but it wasn’t over yet. We had a blast with Angus who gave us some cricket tips. The biggest tip he said was in the Big Bash League we should go for Sydney Thunder!!! We had Live Life Well at school with Alex who told us about all the fat in food. Then, we had AFL with Ben who improved our accuracy. Also, we had some live encounters with some of Australia’s deadliest snakes. The reptile people said learn to calm down and not to freak out!!!

It was sad to leave but we had a great time. We will remember all the fun and food. This was a camp of a life time.

Khancoban camp

On Thursday, 12-9-19, we were at Khancoban camp. Our school was there to participate in the ALPSS Khancoban camp. We got there by Mrs French driving our brand new Humula Public School bus. What we were there for was to meet new people and to have fun.

The first day was so much fun. We learnt about recycling and what materials to put in what bins. Then we made dampers with Ranger Nick himself. After we did dampers we were involved in lessons of LAC which was about calming down and things that we have to keep ourselves safe. Then we had lunch. We participated in Live Life Well at School with Alex. After that, we did reptile awareness with snakes and it was so much fun. We had pasta for dinner. After dinner, we had a disco. It was so awesome.

The next day we did cricket with Robbie- it was so much fun. After that, we had Stem Share which was very cool as well. Then it was safety with Mrs French and we wrapped ourselves with bandages. It was good to learn about first aid. Our last activity was AFL which was awesome and we even got given a football which was spectacular. Now, it was sadly time to go home. We packed the bus, had something to eat and we were on our way. And, I also made heaps of friends from heaps of other schools.
