S.C. Standards for Today: B-2: The student will demonstrate an understanding of the structure and function of cells and their organelles.
Today’s Objectives:• Finish Cell Project Presentations• Cell Differentiation and Activity
Reminder: Content Recovery must be completed by 10/18/13. Midterm 10/27/13.
Warm Up:
• Name 6 greenhouse gasses?

Cell Differentiation
The process by which unspecialized cells develop into their mature forms and functions
Embryonic Stem Cells Undifferentiated (unspecialized) Totipotent – can develop into ANY type tissue
Adult Stem Cells Pluripotent or multipotent – can develop into
certain types of tissues.
Cell Differentiation
As division proceeds, cells increase in number, more specialized in structure and function
Nearly all cells have the same DNA, only specific parts are activated
All cells initially have the potential to become any cell
Cell Differentiation- Activity
