Background Information Most of Boeing design aircrafts are affected by

corrosion. How do they prevent corrosion? Process of preventing corrosion- sealing and

curing. The two current approaches of sealant are

known as “traditional” and “lean” methods. Advantages and disadvantages of each method.

Page 4: Humidifying a Sealant Cure Oven Product Design Specifications- Winter 2012

Traditional Method

•Advantages:― Hold many parts.― Has humidity control.

•Disadvantages: ― Large Size, costly to move.― Hardwired/Plumbed.― Inefficient flow control

Page 5: Humidifying a Sealant Cure Oven Product Design Specifications- Winter 2012

Lean Method

• Advantages:― Proper size and flow.― Not hardwired.― Apply 120v AC

•Disadvantages: ― No humidity control.― Plumbed.

MISSION STATEMENT• Design a device which can embrace the

advantages of the two current methods together to produce a highly efficient curing oven.

• Equip the current oven with a non-corrosive, humidity control and maintain a lightweight design.

• Design oven will have on board water supply.

Technical Risk Management

Scope Definition:• A “scope control process” will be maintained

throughout the lifetime of the project.Performance:

• Performance of each team member will influence directly to the success of the product.

Reliability:• The product must be reliable since it utilizes on a daily

basics. Identify the design’s weaknesses and eliminate or minimize their effects.
