Respiratory gas conditioning is essential whenever patients are on artifi cial ventilation. Its target is to preserve or emulate physiological conditions of the respiratory area with regard to physical parameters - mainly relative humidity and gas temperature. Solely the administration of perfectly conditioned respiratory gas will maintain “mucociliary clearance”, which is of eminent importance concerning infection defense. Modern types of respiratory therapy and ventilation depend on adequately conditioned respiratory gases to be effi cient.

Since 2005 the HumiCare®-series humidifi ers internationally prove their capabilities in active respiratory gas conditioning. HumiCare® delta now represents the new evolution peak and combines the unrivaled performance of the HumiCare® technology with a thoroughly redesigned technical platform. Including a revolutionary modular fl exibility.

Who profi ts from gas conditioning with HumiCare®?

HumiCare® emulates the human physiological mechanism - extensive, humid surface at body core temperature of the upper airways - when humidifying respiratory gases.

Following this principle HumiCare® avoids excessive water temperatures and signifi cantly enlarges the gas/water contact area. This enlargement is realized by an active water circulation continuously feeding heated humidifi cation water to a specially designed exchange surface. Respiratory gas to be humidifi ed is guided in opposite direction to the water. By this the gas becomes saturated with humidity and is heated up to optimal conditions.

Operational principle is evaporation and molecular transfer of humidity by means of a counterstream.

This results in an almost perfect humidifi cation mainly independent of actual gas fl ow rates, gas inlet- or ambient temperatures.

HumiCare® delta is an individually confi gurable humidifi cation system suited for multiple applications. It replaces all predecessing HumiCare® types while it is more economical, more fl exible and better in performance than ever before. Based on one core unit, the system can be equipped according to the individual requirements or preferences. Even a later upgrade is possible. Any level is compatible with different single- and multi-use chambers.

HumiCare® ’s fi rst generation was already unmatched with regard to humidifi cation performance that was highly constant and mainly independent of ambient conditions and ventilation parameters. Neither complex ventilation patterns nor high gas inlet temperatures (turbines!) have relevant infl uence on HumiCare® ’s performance. Long endurance of its consumables (up to 30 days) and effective avoidance of rain-out are additional strong arguments for HumiCare®.
