Humanities (HUM)
The Humanities program is devoted to explaining how cultural values are embodied and
communicated through the arts, and how these affect and are affected by social realities. The
Humanities major offers an interdisciplinary curriculum that investigates the visual arts,
music, literature, and the cultures from which they emerge. We use theoretical tools derived
from literary criticism, aesthetics, and "cultural studies” to integrate the analysis of texts and
styles within their broader cultural contexts.
In order to graduate, you must fulfill all College and University requirements, as well as all
Humanities major requirements. College and University requirements include General Education
