b) Although 50% of all chapters did not document key elements, and measurable and impactful outcomes, the seventeen chapters that did report educated approximately eleven hundred members in their communities. One chapter (Portland) is in the process of implementing a sustainable program by 2018.

• Goal 2:

a) The participating chapters educated members of their chapters, at risk youth, women in transitional housing, partnered with community churches, and the National Blue Campaign.

b) The seventeen chapters helped to increase the number of Western Area chapters address the physical, emotional and/or mental health and well-being of children, families and communities through the many awareness workshops.

Training • A webinar for Western Area was conducted for International Trends and

Services Chairs. The workshop addressed all forms of human trafficking and the implications on the African Diaspora.

• A written article was placed on the website to assist chapters in conducting workshops and overall involvement on the issue of Human Trafficking.

• Goal 3: Awareness articles were written on the Western Area website to address human trafficking as a public health concern. Chapters addressed this issue by ensuring psychologist and other health care providers were on panel discussions.

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR CONTINUITY

• Although guidelines for Human Trafficking in the Western Area have been written, a National Tool Kit has not been published. Once the National Tool Kit has been developed the Western Area will have formal guidelines for sustainability, organization and chapter grants.

• Human trafficking is relatively new to the national spotlight. Within the upcoming Biennial over half of the chapters in the Western Area will become involved.

• More articles and webinars are needed to solicit participation.
