Your Degree PlanThis week becomes even more personal as

you personalize your degree plan to fit you as the individual!

This is where you will pick your electives that will build the career you desire. This is your decision. No one will tell you once you have your degree plan put together what classes you have to take for you are making this decision in the Unit 4 project.

How exciting for all of you to be building your own degree with the electives that you decide to take to enhance the Human Service core classes and emphasis areas.

This week when you open the Reading Icon you will find the Associate and Bachelor Degree excel sheet.

If you have the excel sheet opened we will use it to discuss the rest of the work you need to do. If you do not have it open go ahead and open it and come back to seminar. If it is easier for you , print it out. We will wait a few minutes before we proceed.

Now together we will look at the requirements and electives for your Associate or Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Services.

Today we will be looking for the course catalogue and the descriptions of the electives you can take for your degree

So who knows where to find the course catalogue so we can review the electives?

If you do not have a course catalog, you can access one from your student webpage by following these directions:

Go to the Kaplan student webpage. Scroll down to Resources under My Classes. Click Documents. Click University Catalog. Scroll down to Undergraduate Course Descriptions to read descriptions of all the classes offered at Kaplan University.

For the Associate, Bachelor and Advanced Start Bachelor Degree Programs you need to read about all of the core courses and the major courses that you will take as part of your degree.

This will help you to understand what each class is about along with what topic the courses cover.

Part I: Please submit your completed Customized Human Services Degree Plan (Excel spreadsheet), indicating your selection of elective courses needed

to complete your degree.

Part II: To complete this portion of the project, answer each of the questions about your Customized Degree Plan using the Word template provided in the unit:

Why have you chosen the elective classes included in your degree plan?

What skills and knowledge do you expect to learn from these classes?How will these individual skills and knowledge help you in your

field?How will these electives further your career goals in general?

Answer each question in paragraph form. Your responses should be double-spaced, using 12 pt. Arial font and Standard American English. If you do cite outside references, you will have to provide the source information. In addition, projects should demonstrate careful proofreading.
