Washington State University welcomes applications and recommendations for a full-time leadership position as the Human Resource Area Administrator for the WSU Health Sciences Spokane campus. Established in 1989, WSU Spokane is the UniversityEstablished in 1989, WSU Spokane is the University’s designated health sciences and research campus, and is home to three WSU Colleges: Nursing, Pharmacy, and the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine. Human Resource Area AdministratorWSU Health Sciences Spokane

The Human Resource Area Administrator provides guidance and consultation regarding human resource functions for the WSU Health Sciences Spokane campus. This position will report to the Senior Director of Employment Services in the Office of Human Resource Services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Advance the relationships between Human Resources Services and areas/colleges to facilitate the success of the University’s mission and goals consistent with federal and state laws, university policies/procedures and HR best practices. • Serve as a consultant and advise areas/colleges, senior leadership and management regarding all HR related matters, including recruitment, classification, compensation, employee relations, and laws, policies and procedures. • Guide and coach senior leadership in facilitating solutions for complex employee relations issues by discussing options and possible impacts. • Lead HR staff in classification/compensation. Provide constructive feedback regarding proposed allocation decisions. Assist in evaluating classification/compensation impacts to organization structure within the unit, as well as, university-wide impacts. • Supervise and manage the recruitment process for assigned areas/college working closely with department managers and supervisors. • Oversee the supervision of HR staff, which includes work allocation, training, corrective action and problem resolution.

Position QualificationsRequired Qualifications: • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and six (6) years of progressively responsible relevant experience. A Master’s degree in a related field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience.

Additional Requirements: • Progressively responsible experience in any or all of the following human resources administration, strategic human resource planning organizational and employee development, employee relations, performance management, classification/compensation, and supporting a diverse workforce; including two (2) years of managerial experience. • Ability to travel to the WSU Pullman campus and university locations throughout the state of Washington is required (approximately 1-3 times per month). • Human Resource experience in a higher education setting. • Human Resource experience in Health Sciences.

Preferred Qualifications: • Demonstrated ability to successfully prepare and present policy interpretations and investigation findings and conclusions. • PHR/SPHR, SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP or similar professional HR certification.
