contemporary twist.

A contemporary itinerary among artisans shops (Botteghe artigiane fiorentine, in italian language) in the Florentine Oltrarno and not only. A

process, started during Florence design week, where artisans met young international designers for a stimulating and innovative experience.

The Liberal Academy of Fine Arts of Florence, an institute of top level artistic training, independent body of L.A.B.A. of Brescia, legally recognized by the

Italian Ministry of Universities and Research with M.D. of 27/04/2000, is based in Florence.

The L.A.B.A. has been the first fine art academy in Tuscany to offer courses of 3 plus 2 years (restructured duration) for short degrees and specialization

degrees in the following subjects: Visual Arts, Photography, Graphic Design and Design.

Situated in the southern zone of Florence, the L.A.B.A. site occupies around 1.000 square metres with recreational space in front, a garden behind and laboratories furnished with multimedia equipments of the latest generation.

The Academy has gradually become a real melting pot of races and ideas, of continual ethnic and cultural exchange, a place where young people of diverse customs, cultures, religions and ethnic groups meet up, discuss and develop

Girogiò items are small pieces of wood furniture, originally designed, as unique pieces or limited series, decorated as in the tradition with wax

Pierlidia Ruggeri's products are entirely made with elements of industrial waste, in particular sliced wood in various shapes and texture.

The continuous research and experimentation of this product leads to a reinterpretation of the wood, now flexible, mouldable in its own

particularity, making each piece unique and unrepeatable.

Silvia Zacchello’s work is based on the art of recycling and restoring furniture and vintage objects, particularly chairs.

After an initial repairing, the chairs are entirely painted, with motifs inspired by Pop Art, comics and vintage graphics: old chairs or old

pieces of furniture such as tables, telephones, desks and even more, fill interiors as unique and curious design pieces.

Monica Maraspin, architect, born in Trieste (Italy) in 1982, obtained her degree, she begins a training/professional program which let her to travel in Italy participating in an itinerant Master in

“Architecture, Archeaology and Museography” and in Portugal where she worked in some young and dynamic ateliers of architecture open in design approaches related to the ‘Digital Architecture

& Design as strategies to design flexible and manipulable’.Then she continued as freelance her experiments between forms and matter with in first the

creation of Phen.collection and the realization of the first prototype of Phen Light - a lamp that has seen experimentation with bio-resin in its construction - that was exhibited at the Venice

Design week in 2012 and published in magazine Domus in January 2012. Later, during Florence Design Week 2012, she has proposed the creation of Sit.ME - a silhouettes sitting, container

and/or bookcase, which is materialized by a metal sheet bent giving rise to many different situations of his stay and become function. Investigate the potential of materials related to formal

research, continue to be the distinguishing mark in her work.
